Okay, here's the answer. The original song was Dixie Chicken by Little Feat. My last clue was another song of their entitled Willin'.
So here's a new one, which I hope will be a little more familiar:
Quote: | You could have a steam train
If you’d just lay down your tracks
You could have an aeroplane flying
If you bring your blue sky back |
Have at it... _________________ mwalimu

That was a quick reply
Next Quote:
Quote: | Side by side in silence
They pass away the day
So comfortable, so habitual...
And so nothing left to say |

No problem. A bit of a random choice as I was listening to this track at the time.
I will give out two more verses..
Quote: | Side by side in silence
His thoughts echo round
He looks up at the sky...
She looks down at the ground
Stares down at the ground
Stares down at the ground
Side by side in silence
They wish for different worlds
She dreams him as a boy...
And he loves her as a girl |

Ok Since no-one has ventured a guess. I am going to end this one and start with another song...
The lyrics are from "The Cure" the song is "The Loudest sound".
New lyrics! With a Christmas theme even.
Quote: | Last year, ski shop,
Encounter, most interesting.
Had his number but never the time
Most of '81 passed along those lines.
So deck those halls, trim those trees
Raise up cups of Christmas cheer,
I just need to catch my breath,
Christmas by myself this year.

Well I guess I chose some duds..
This song is a bit obscure but I hear it at least once a year on the radio. Here is the last four verses from the song. I will post another more popular song tomorrow if no-one gets this one.
Quote: | A&P has provided me
With the world's smallest turkey
Already in the oven, nice and hot
Oh damn! Guess what I forgot?
So on with the boots, back out in the snow
To the only all-night grocery,
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
In the line is that guy I've been chasing all year!
"I'm spending this one alone," he said.
"Need a break; this year's been crazy."
I said, "Me too, but why are you?
You mean you forgot cranberries too?"
Then suddenly we laughed and laughed
Caught on to what was happening
That Christmas magic's brought this tale
To a very happy ending! " |

Wow.. Can I pick some duds or what...
Ok. It was the Waitresses: Christmas Wrapping.
Quote: | Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!
Couldn't miss this one this year!
Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!
Couldn't miss this one this year! | The lyrics can be found here.

Now.. How about a less obscure one. Not one of my favorites but it does have a new years theme.
Quote: | I was dreamin' when I wrote this
So sue me if I go 2 fast
But life is just a party, and parties weren't meant 2 last
War is all around us, my mind says prepare 2 fight
So if I gotta die I'm gonna listen 2 my body tonight |

It is. This is a fun little game. I'll wait on the next song lyric to join in. _________________ Nadan
