I will be at the tax tea party in Nashville TN today at noon. I have no illusion that it will change the politics of the far left politicians up there, they will still keep spending our money like a drunk sailor. They will spend us right into socialism, and that is where they are headed with it, as fast as they can get away with. I just hope that enough people show up that it sends a clear message.... that if the opposition (the republicans in this case) continue to just lay down and take it... they will be fired by their constituents.
Personally, I'm a libertarian, and the direction and speed with which the government is growing, frankly.. scares me to death. If going to a tax protest, which at its core is what the tea parts are, gets the point across to the pansy republicans up there, and in our local government, that our nation is being sold down the river by their opposition, MAYBE we can get some of them to stand up and fight. MAYBE... I can hope. Because frankly, it seems like the remaining freedoms we have, and the very thing that makes us the land of opportunity, is being sold lock stock and barrel, and everyone 'up there' is just setting on their hands, unless of course the ones who are leading the charge!
Anyways, that is my 2c

I have never heard of any tax day tea party, which doesn't look good attendance wise since I tend to frequent various sites what post various activities in the area. Basically seems that there has not been to very much "word spreading" so that could equal bad attendance. _________________ http://www.bukisa.com/people/AmberBarnes check it out!

The turnout in downtown Nashville was 3000+ people. We filled the legislative plaza from side to side. The WHOLE thing. I have been hearing about it since the last one was held around the inauguration. That is partly because I listen to radio a lot... 99.7 WWTN here in the middle TN area. It has also been all over conservative websites for some time. And FOX news has been covering it as well. Princess, if you want someone to keep you informed of conservative issues and events, just let me know, I have been into it for some time, I can send any info on to you as well! And whatever I miss, Ben is sure to catch, and inform me of. He is always catching stuff like this.
The tea party downtown was partially organized by the same people who were behind the Tennessee tax revolt... When Tennesseans stood up and said 'NO you WILL NOT give us a state income tax!' Our voices (and many many honking car horns around the state capitol) were heard then, and I hope they are heard now (and yes there were some horn honkers doing their part at the capitol today, proud to say I was one of em). It has long since been time for 'we the people' to stand up and say 'NO YOU CAN NOT! build big government! NO YOU CAN NOT! raise our taxes, and NO WE WILL NOT through silence allow you to any longer!' _________________ My Fury Code:

The only slight mention I heard of anything was someone online mentioned a little bit but was clearly against what was planned and turned it more "inappropriate sexual reference" then saying much of what was going on.
I can't really say that I am much against taxes in general, what I am against is how they use my taxes. I'm not really going to "b!tch" and risk people getting all huffy and whiny for no good reason like certain ones like to, but basically if you are going to suck my money dry I should have some small say in what you do with it.... _________________ http://www.bukisa.com/people/AmberBarnes check it out!

Tea?
Where?
(My useof tea has long since passed the limit and been declared abuse...)
Taxes?
Nothing that unholy should ever be mentioned in the same sentence as the divine drink.
Reminds me that I need to spend 5 minutes, logging onto a website and check my own taxes soon.
Won't even take as long as drinking a single cup of tea...
(I don't need to do anything - non-delivery just means I accept the pre-filled form as correct - but there's a small chance I can claim a slightly larger amount as travel expenses... )
BTW: I pay about 33% of my income in taxes. _________________ "My name's Lion, Anthony Lion"

I'm sorry, but THAT kind of language isn't fit for this site...
(We skip the 'amusing actions' and head straight for flames and sulphur territory... )
Besides, taxes finances our socialized healthcare(it paid for my father's cure for his nerve disease, his double bypass, and a small accident with the chainsaw. It also covered the emergency surgery mybrother needed soon after he was born.), schooling(yes, even university is 'free' here. Books are pretty expensive, but that's a universal rule it seems), dental for children(until age 16) and 'a few' other goodies... _________________ "My name's Lion, Anthony Lion"

Most Americans wouldn't know what the hell socialism was if it slapped them across the face.
I don't understand why everyone is whining about all the money Obama adminmsitration is spending, while ignoring the past 8 years of unchecked Republican spending. Iraq, anyone? Or did everyone's mind get wiped on Janurary 20th?
How about, instead of attacking Obama and his adminsitration on spending all this money, we take a look and start attacking what and/or who is the cause of the Obama Administration having to spend this damned money to begin with.
There is plent to be angry at the Obama administration for, but this isn't one of them.
It utterly disgusts me at how, even after 8 years, you *still* have twist arms around to get people to admit that the Bush adminsitration wasn't the greatest we've had, but everyone has dogged the new administration since day one.
