As I right this I'm at my parents.
I've always hate the Republican Party but that hate has just intensified by a thousand fold. I can't get into my condo because the riot police have the entire area blocked off. Which means I can't get home to take my psychological medication and if I flip I don't know where I can go that a hospital will be accessible in Saint Paul, my home city. This is only going to get worse since Thursday that scum sucker McCain, and probably his anti-environmental, anti-wildlife, running mate of his will be with him. I don't care if Pillan is a woman whose anti-sexed policies are probably what led to her seventeen year old daughter getting knocked up. She has spent government money on ad campaigns encouraging the laws to be passed to allow the airal gunning of wolves, and is trying to take polar bears off the endangered species list. If you have any self respect as a furry you will not vote for these people. I'm not asking you to vote for Obama but don't vote McCain/Pillan, they are anti-environment, anti-working American, anti-free worship scum. _________________ Bad moods are like hangovers, they eventually go away. - A. As much as I like McCain because he is the representative of my adopted state... I will not vote for him... because he's too old. 72? At that age most people are required to prove they can still drive. I won't be happy having the reins of the country handed to someone like that.

Hey Sigurd-
I feel for ya not being able to access your meds. I'm a diabetic and although it may be true that right now I could make it for some time without them, maybe a week or more, I still carry a small amount with me at all times. Here in the SF bay area, my hometown (Fremont) sits right on top of the Hayward fault and it could go at any time. Since it might take me a few days to get home and dig my pills out of the rubble, it's nice to have the peace of mind that a few pills on hand can give.
A small pill holder isn't hard to carry around an it's always handy.
About the goons keeping you out of your place-did you try to explain your medical condition and the seriousness of it? I'm hoping that they are not that hard-headed. If they are, just tatoo 'Jack Booted Thug' on their forehead for the next guy to know what they're dealing with.
My prayers are with you, Sig. I hope this gets straightened out for ya soon.

personally, my registered party is Green Peace... I support this country's flag, and the constitution but I an no supporter of anyone in Washington D.C. I believe that it is time to get everyone in that City, working for the government (White house, Capital Hill, supreme court and put new honest working people in there... also get rid of this 100% pension for life thing too).
I am a Green Peace party member, I like their ideals, but I don't like how they carry them out. So for the past Elections, I have left the Pres. blank. |

Remember back in school when in gym class you had to pick teams, eventually you got down to the last few kids that no one wanted cuz there was something wrong about them. Nothing against dissabled people or mentally challenged people but as a child they just aren't who you really want on your team for dodge ball.
Thats where it seems that we are, the kid that doesn't move to well and the kid that doesn't think to well, maybe basicly alright people but not who you want to rely on in the game.
I don't want to say this is the last pick for the game cuz Fate and Murphy walk hand in hand, as soon as you say this is the worst then in 4 years someone comes along that you think maybe this ain't so bad.
So far the only reason I see for going to the polls in a couple months is to write in Walter (Jeff Dunham's dummy).
Hopefully, Sigurd, you can get back home soon. Seems pretty stupid to block people for their homes. My question would be; Are you paying for me to go to the doctor and get more meds? Are you paying some of my rent on the place I'm not allowed to touch because of you? _________________ http://www.bukisa.com/people/AmberBarnes check it out!

Hey, Sig, I hope you get to your meds soon.
As for voting, neither of the major parties has had a candidate worth voting for since I started voting in '72. This year is the worst I've ever seen.
This year I'll vote for Ron Paul if he's on the ballot. If not, I'll vote Libertarian. Neither one has a realistic chance of winning, but at least I can express my disgust with the major party candidates.
An old saying I'll toss in here for consideration:
"Voting for the lesser of evils is still voting for evil."

I could never vote _for_ a man like John McCain, who seems to believe that party discipline and principles are only in order when it comes time to push his own bills and put his own name up in lights. However, I _am_ able to hold my nose and vote _against_ an outright free-market-hating socialist like Barak Obama. And that's exactly what I'll do in November. The free market and its associated property rights are the roots of _all_ freedoms. I can't support (or peacefully follow, if elected) anyone who fails to grasp this basic truth. Freedom means too much to me for me to behave any differently.
It's sad, really. I've been voting _against_ candidates, as opposed to _for_ them, since Ronald Reagan left office. In fact, he's the only President I've ever voted _for_ in my entire life. I've been (mis)quoting him frequently of late, as well. "I didn't leave the Republican Party. The Republican Party left me!"
Where have all you small-government conservatives gone? Hello? Is there anyone listening? We need you guys more than ever!

Well I did get home last night, though Thursday promises to be even worse with McCain showing up himself. Though that night I'm probably going to stay home until it's time for me to go to work instead of trying to go anywhere. Hopefully things will have settled down enough by the time I have to leave, of not I have no idea what I'm going to do.
As far as I'm concerned politically we haven't had a decent president since FDR. As some of you know I'm pretty far left and for very good reasons in my opinion. I won't disagree that there hasn't been some massive wasteful spending on the governments part, but that comes down mostly to many politicians having studied sociology and economics at the same time, which I have.
First big waste is NASA spending. Yes we should keep doing research in space, but the long term contracts NASA has with the major aerospace firms means no further developments. The X prize contests have shown we can do much more much cheaper. If the US was to take the money it spends on R and D itself and gave it out as prize money to encourage R and D on the part of private companies we could do far more on the same budget.
Next big waster is Insurance. Want to save private citizens money? Socialize health care. It has been shown time and time again in European countries that by socializing medical care you can save money since it cuts down on down time from people being sick and not being able to afford to see a doctor. Some politicians have said something to the effect that if someone gets sick they should just go to the emergency room. Anyone who has studied social economics can tell you that having people go to the emergency room instead of a regular doctor can cost anywhere between five and ten times more money, do the math yourself. Then we get to prescription drugs, the larger an entity is the more easily it can negotiate for lower prices for medication, works in Europe. Every European country that has gone socialized medicine has saved money for its citizens while providing the same level of coverage.
I could keep going but I don't feel like ranting anymore at this point. _________________ Bad moods are like hangovers, they eventually go away. - A. Sigurd Olson |

I'm totally with you on this Sigurd, except for the Obama part. He's hardly experienced, and some of his plans don't seem like they'd be any good. Honestly, I wish that a third party had stayed in because I can't stand both Reps and Dems. _________________ Telegram: kelvinshadewing

I'm a year short. I can't vote in a presidential election until I'm 21.
But for this race, I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. McCain is so liberal, I don't know how people can call him a republican. But he is the lesser of the two evils; if Obama is elected, I don't know how I'll survive college. All of my income will vanish with taxes.
I'd rather see McCain in office than Barack Obama, but even then I don't really like him. _________________ My FA |
