Furry Authors

Following is a short list (in no particular order, so don't get any ideas) of the people whose writings have inspired and/or challenged me in my quest to finish Wendy's life story.  In many cases I had come to know, admire, and love these folks before I ever actually met any of them in person.  I managed to rectify that deficiency at AnthroCon 2002.  And, thankfully, my ugly mug didn't send them screaming from the room.  They are an awfully understanding bunch.
As a small caveat, some of these sites have some adult content.  I am not necessarily advocating that aspect of the furry experience, so please don't hold me responsible for material you may run across there.  Those few who do have art or literature of an explicit nature on their sites have been kind enough to indicate such with the appropriate warnings.

The Foxx Den, Chris Yost  --  This is where it started.  To my knowledge, Chris wrote the first mainstream furry work (Sabrina Online, the Story) to gain a wide following.  And HOOOOO-BOY, does he ever deserve a following for that yarn!  Then he managed, crazy though this sounds, to outdo himself with the other story on his site, Tabitha, co-written with James Bruner.  If you haven't read 'em yet, read 'em.  Now.  Before you do anything else.  What?  Oh.  Okay, you can take a restroom break first.  But make it short.

ZZ Studios, James Bruner  --  This is where I got started.  It's the first piece of furry literature I ever read.  Chris' magnum opus was the second.  As you can imagine, they managed to set quite a benchmark for my expectations of the genre.  And if you haven't made it by the Studio yet . . . what the Sam Hill are you waiting for?  Shoo!  Git!  Read!

The Raccoon's Bookshelf, Mike Regan  --  Bless his little ol' heart all to pieces!  Mike graciously offered to post my story back when I had no way to do it myself, and is the other site extant where it may be found.  He is, as his home page proclaims, the purveyor of fine furry fiction, and he has an impressive stable of authors.
I need to mention Pflarrian Collifox's Otherworlds.  I do so because this is the only place where the story resides, to my knowledge, so I can't give you a direct link, and it's such an exceptionally good story it deserves the advertisement.  It is furry high fantasy, complete with magic, dragons, and a reluctant hero.  Don't miss it!
Also, ya gotta read Mark (Cheetaur) White's fanfiction series:  A Tale of Two Sabrinas, Sabrina Squared, and Sabrina Cubed.  An unusual, not to say unique, take on the Sabrina character.  I promise you, there is no way I could have come up with this!  He also has one of the most evil 'bad-guy' characters you will ever meet.

Beau Wolff's Lair, Beau Northwood  --  A fellow logophile, and an author of high caliber, his story, A State of Mind, is a psychological thriller revolving around a member of the British peerage.  Sounds different, you say?  You ain't seen nothin' yet.  Read it!  But don't read it late at night, if you can help it.  Please.  I'm serious.  Oh, and by the by, it dovetails nicely with . . . .

All Things Furry, Shirh Khan  --  Yet another author whose work makes me envious.  His story, From The Depths to The Heights, chronicles the emotional fall and subsequent rise of a talented physician after his family is killed by a drunk driver.  This one will hit you where you live.  Guaranteed.  The sheer intensity of the story prompts me to apply a "Keep Out of Reach of Children" label.

Rava's Place, Rava Purr  --  The charming Miss Purr has crafted Rava's Story, a saga of power, a clashing of cultures, a trek through the psyche of a driven feline, who deep down really would like to meet someone she could trust enough to love.
Also on this site, Evan (Cateagle) Mayerle has given us From The Wings, the story of Debbye Squirrel (a member of the famous 'Clique') and Lee Evans, whose apparently innocent and low-key romance leads to a great deal more than either of them had bargained for.  These two stories share characters and the occasional plotline with . . . .

The Fox Hole, Josh Fox  --  A Fox's Tale.  This often-hilarious account centers on Josh Fox (who seems to be completely innocent of the effect he frequently has on the femmes) and Susan Felin, of the 'Clique'.

Kinsfire's Place, Keith McComb  --  The boy's got TALENT!  He writes, he draws, he's good.  The first story of his that I read was Serina, an alternate-universe cross-over with the "standard" Sabrina series of tales.  Inter-dimensional intrigue awaits!

Galadrion's Place, David Adrion  --  If you've never read a furry murder mystery, this is the place to start.  The Mackelroy Chronicles follows the exploits of one Jake Mackelroy as he tracks down the killer of a former girlfriend.  Alternately creepy and comical, the story also deals with some of the things that go on in the background, in the Shadowlands of the subconscious.  You won't stop once you start.

Kathmandu's World of Visual Delights, David White  --  His work is a delight to the eyes.  I read his story Salt and Foam (in one sitting) and would like to recommend it to all and sundry.  Very well written, tight and fast-paced.

The Winds of Change, Jon Sleeper  --  This is a short story that got out of hand (out of paw?) and grew into a series of novels.  Highly entertaining.

Hybrid Theory , Tyler Leone  --  An excellent furry tale, this piece was the final nudge I needed to get started on my own story.  Very thoughtful, very insightful.  Powerful stuff.

Strike Force Omicron, Sean "Fishburne" Conley -- Believe it or not, Gone Wylde actually spawned a spinoff story. Fishburne gives us all a bit of background on Karl Luscus and the gang, from when they were the premier anti-terrorism team on the planet. I can't WAIT to see how this one turns out!

Off-World Explorations  --  This page contains some REALLY great fiction.  It has absolutely nothing to do with Sabrina, but the stories, particularly Godsend and Light on Shattered Water, are good enough to print off and keep for your bedside table.  I had lost the link a while back, and one of my readers very kindly sent it to me again.  (Thank you!)

The World of the Blind Pig Gin Mill  --  A communal work, this melieu represents the state of our world after accidental infection by a polymorphing virus creates the SCABS. You must read it to understand. There are quite a few stories on this site, some very short, one a decent-sized novel. Some of the stories rate an "Eh ... 's okay"; some of them are fun, well-told yarns; and some of them belong with The Great Works.

Catacombs of the Nameless One  --  Don't make the mistake of thinking this is just another fan-fic. Although Nameless has only recently begun his tale, it has already piqued my interest with the best of them.

Will Sanborn, -- A very talented writer of furry fiction, both long and short, Mr. Sanborn came to my attention as I traveled the myriad paths of Mia's Index. He has graciously consented to allow me to post his link here.

Other Stuff

This is the list of "non-furry" links. It is more than likely going to get pretty eclectic as time goes by.

Kelotta  --  This will link you to the stories page of my old and dear friend Kris Gibbons, whose reacquaintance I made the first week of November 2002 after an eleven-year hiatus. (My fault -- read the Twilight Zone essay on the home page for the details.) He was, and still is, one of the better authors of my experience, and is even less averse than I to the idea of pumping up his readers' vocabularies. High fantasy with a twist.

This list is not finished.  Not by a darn sight.  So if it looks incomplete to you, you are probably correct.  If you know of a site that should be in this list, PLEASE e-mail me and let me know.  You can reach me at:
