I really love Miami the skunk, you may know her, pink haired skunkette from sexyfur.com. (An adult furry site)

I've had an obsession with the character since I first saw her at yiff.ru (another adult furry site Razz )some years ago.

I'm not a terribly straight person, but I'd go truck-fixin' bull-ridin' macho man for her. That's the issue.

Sure, I care a lot about my own characters, and I find many fictional characters quite attractive, but I really have a fixation on Miami.

I've had real life relationships, and I know what love can feel like. I find it a bit concerning that a fictional character has stolen my heart and kept it for several years. My interest has never faded, I'll pass it off as a silly feeling and go on with life for a while, then when I see a new picture of her my heart skips as if I was seeing a long lost lover again.

Jeez... I must sound creepy.

Is this something I should really be concerned about, or is it just something most of us furries go through in life?

Or maybe it's easier to care for a being that you know will not hurt you, therefore you don't let go of that interest.
Allowing yourself to care about anyone in anyway allows you to be open for hurt in many ways. But this "on paper" being cannot reject you or in anyway hurt you.
Not saying you don't care about those in your life, I know you do, but maybe you allow yourself to care more about the fictitional being then you do those in life because it's "safer".
An "absence makes the heart grow fonder" type thing. If the skunk were real and in your life you may see things that bother you that you don't see now because she's not there, making her seem better.

Just my thoughts off hand.

Good view.

I'll buy it, although I don't think I could resist even if she did have personality flaws in reality. Because hey, how often will I find a real life skunkette? If I said no, then somebody else would get her. Wink Laughing

Jokes aside, good solid reasoning, that's why I love your answers.

I agree with what PrincessB said. It's easy and "safe" to develop feelings for a fictional character, because that fictional character will always be the 'ideal' in our mind. In some ways, it's like falling in love with a character from a live-action movie. The character isn't real (even though the actor is), and all you know of the character is what you see on-screen--the ideal.

Is it any wonder that I had dreams about being a mouse, and going to help the poor widow Mrs. Brisby and her children? It's not the same thing as with Miami, of course, but it goes along the same lines.

I don't see any problem with that - no different than "normal" folks who "fall" for a porn star.

As long as it doesn't interfere with your real life, rock it skunky Wink

Okay I'm going to let everyone in on a little secret before I met Patty I was desperately and truly in love with another woman, but like Mog the I wasn't in love with a real person, but a painting. I knew everything about her what she would sound like, what her mannerisms would be, everything. Then I met Patty and this other woman meant nothing to me (not that I didn't use the painting for my desktop for about two years. The painting was done by my favorite artist Luis Royo (if you look him up on the web I should in form you that at least half of his paintings are not workplace safe). Here is that woman.

The moment I read this my mind flashed to a brief scene from a documentary I saw about pinup art. The memory was of Betty Grable's famous picture from 1943--it was the poster up in shipboard lockers of our sailors in WW-II and hugely popular with other service men too. But it wasn't the image, it was the song that documentary paired it with, which was a huge hit for the Mills Brothers in 1943. They sound so smooth.

Mog, I suspect Miami is your version of Betty Grable. She's your paper doll. Wink
