|Sherman, set the Way-Back Machine to August 18th, 1997, to a little hotel room in Hampton Virginia where a friend and I spent nearly a week together while I was eliminating one of my demons. It was the last day that we would have together, and though we still coorespond through out the years, it was the last time we would see each other.
9 years later.
My family goes against my wishes and cleans out my room, literally throwing out a lot of stuff that was my personal property because of stupid reasons that they will not say. I'm working on taking legal action on each and every one of them. Simply put, I put into storage my former apartment in my old room when I used to live with my parents. Now that I have moved back in to the old place a long time ago, and taken responsibility of the old place, the family has gotten against me to clean up my room. Mind you, there is no complaints about the rest of the place, which is a royal mess of not oy my creation.
So they went forth and literally dumped out my room.
One thing they did not throw out was an old suitcase, which they could not find the key for, so they left it on my bed. It was the suitcase I used in on that hotel date.
Having the set of keys on my chain for all this time, I decided to test them and open the case. Amoung the personal items and clothing, stuffed in between them was a shiney item. I reached in and grabbed it, picking it up and was awed by what it was...
My wife's engagement ring.
Why or how was it there?
I removed them before her preparation for her funeral and then gave them to my friend that I met again on august '97. It was for her to safe keep over the years, and use as a finanical incentive to the children's college fund. But over the years, I forget about them.
But there is was. A 2.5 carat diamond on a large ring that I bought knowing that it would not fit anyone but me, unless fitted with two other rings in a crossing hatchwork which would almost knot up against the finger but not tightly. Neither these support rings or the wedding ring was there, only the engagement ring.
Now, what to do with it?
First- take it to a spiritualist. The Karma and Mojo in that ring must be cleansed, it was on her finger when it she was killed.
Second- dont know. Dont want to sell it. Its a specail item given to a specail person, a long time ago. If I give, it would be to a person that I would deem that special.
Third- We'll have to see.
Until then, this is going to haunt me for the next few days as I hunt for answers. Changes are that I wont see me friend again anytime soon, she will be sending those holiday cards, and I will reply to them, thus asking the question- Why.
Take care everybody... until next time, I'll be lurking around.
