I had thought at least a couple of readers here would be familiar with the song in question, and apparently I was wrong. If no one gets it by tonight I'll give the answer and a new lyric. _________________ mwalimu

Okay, as promised, here is the answer. It's "The Pawpet Song" by 2 the Ranting Gryphon. You can download it from here:
http://fmf.fauna-project.org/music/music.html?Spawpetsong
And for my next (hopefully easier) lyric:
Quote: | Life is like the coldest winter
People freeze the tears I cry
Words of hail their minds are into
I've got to crack this ice and fly |

No guesses yet, so here is some more. The verse given above is the second verse of the song. Here is the first:
Quote: | Day is night in New York City
Smoke, like water, runs inside
Steel idle trees to pity
Every living things that's died |
The album it comes from is one of only a handful of regular albums in rock and roll history from which every song on the album became a standard (a "regular" album is one that is substantially new material at the time of release, not a compilation of previously released songs). When I was in college, it seemed like nearly everyone I met had a copy of this album. _________________ mwalimu

It's been a long time, but I think that's Hitch a Ride by Boston. _________________ "Political Correctness is tyranny with manners." Charlton Heston

Alreight lets try this one.
Quote: | Theyre closing in the fortress is near
Its standing high in the sky
The cable cars the only way in
Its really impossible to climb

No guesses yet? okay here's another phrase
Quote: | The blizzard goes on but still they must fly
No one should go where eagles dare
Bavarian alps that lay all around
They seem to stare from below
The enemy lines a long time passed
Are lying deep in the snow
|
Now I will be most displaesed if no one gets this as it's a dead give away, hint it's a heavy metal song _________________ "Political Correctness is tyranny with manners." Charlton Heston

I recognise it, but for the life of me I can't remember who did it or what it's called. |

Nothing huh? okay let us try another song from the same album.
Quote: | He rules the sandworms and the Fremen
In a land amongst the stars
Of an age tomorrow.
He is destined to be a King
He rules over everything
On the land called planet Dune.
Bodywater is your life
And without it you would die
On the desert the planet Dune.
Without a stillsuit you would fry
On the sands so hot and dry
In a world called Arrakis.
It is a land that's rich in spice
The sandriders and the "mice"
That they call the "Muad'Dib".
He is the Kwizatz Haderach.
He is born of Caladan
And will take the Gom Jabbar.

Well, it was a great book, but I didn't know it had a song. _________________ Nadan

Okay The band is as I mentioned with the first song a heavy metal group, they have a mascot who's name is the same as one third of the title of a show on Cartoon Network, and he has been in all kinds of situations according to the theme of an album in this album he is a mental patient tied up in a strait jacket and chained to the floor of his padded cell. _________________ "Political Correctness is tyranny with manners." Okay the first song was "Where Eagles Dare" and the second was "To Tame a Land" from the Peice of Mind album by Iron Maiden
Okay new group and song
Quote: | How many times have they lied with the truth in their eyes
Treat you like dirt, wasting the days of our lives
They try and deny it, ain't gonna buy it, just look around
Before it's all over, it's gonna get rough |
Same kind of music but the band was REALLY BIG in the 70s _________________ "Political Correctness is tyranny with manners." Charlton Heston

It's probably wrong, but I'll throw out a guess...
Is it "A Hazy Shade of Winter" by Simon and Garfunkel? _________________ mwalimu
