Good, simple, and straight-forward rules. One of the admins might want to take a look at the "Newbie FAQs" in the "FAQs" conference on http://bar.baen.com for some more thoughts on a similar subject by folks that've been dealing with this for a fair while. *Grimace* And even then they've had problems.
Thoughtfully,

Thanks Cat, will look into that... we have to do this because it is necessary to keep a certain ammount of order... and I as well as some of you, am tired of some crap flinging contests that have been happening, i hope it was the last we see of them.

Sounds good to me, Maxx. Having certain of those rules in place a few months ago would have prevented much unpleasantness. In particular, I like that rule about one-word-or-phrase posts. What a relief!
I was (heretofore blissfully) unaware of the goatse/tubgirl stuff. I think I'll see if I can erase what you told me from my wetware main drive. Bleah.
Overall ...... good job! Let's hope it works. _________________ Oddly enough, my life is based on a true story. (Ashleigh Brilliant) |

Da Rulez were know but yet unwritten...
READ THE GRAFFITTI ON THE WALLS, FOR THE RULEZ ARE THERE!!!
RESPECT DA RULEZ OF BE SLAPPED BY MR. UNHAPPY STICK AND LATER ON BY HIS BIG BROTHA- MR. BANSTICK!
... as it is written on the walls, it will be carved onto stone, and until the walls fall and the stone crumble- it shall be obeyed...

Naaaah, not that severe, we agree that we want a forum where everyone can discuss without any nasty stuff, i think that the golden rule should be "Be Good, be Smart, have fun"
and as Fur Heaven posts... sort of... "we should add to the fandom, not take away from it", granted that will be folks willing to make non-fun stuff... but yeah, i think that once everyone takes these "rules" as guidelines, everything should be fine.
We are a big and diverse group, our differences makes us strong, and the things that brings us closer together make all of us a big family, and that is where our strong point is, the ultimate goal is to be a community that learns from each other and enjoys what we all do online. _________________ [Citation Needed] |

Thank you, Maxx; this is the sort of thing I've been trying to request for some time. Granted, I'm not overly fond of rules, being somewhat of a free spirit, but there have been times in the past (not just the recent unpleasantness, which fortunately I was not here to witness - or participate in) when I think we would have benefitted by them.
*Cough*SPAM*cough*
Now, I truly don't want to see a place I've enjoyed turn into some fascist, rules-worshipping, Orwellian nightmare prison camp, but there've been times when we strayed awfully close to the line on the other side of the field, too. As I've said a time or three (dozen) before, it's time for a return to Moderation (where I do all my drinking, thank you). I can live with these rules. I think just about anyone reasonable can live with them.
Thanks again, Maxx. Much as I wish it was unnecessary, this is overdue. _________________ Galadrion - Member of the Longbottom 3. |

*Chuckle* Oh, regarding my original post, Maxx, if you took some of Fawkesfyre's FurHaven FAQ as a partial inspiration for these, I know he got some inspiration from the source I mentioned.
*G* For better or for worse, I was the one who introduced him there.

So does that mean my artwork with the T-shirt contest is in jeopardy now because of the "tubgirl" rule? _________________ "The history of humanity is like an Endless Waltz, it constantly dances to the three beats of war, peace, and revolution." |

nope, Fish and I are rewording the rules, as harsh as they sound, the only thing I mean, is "Be good, be smart and have fun"
And never should be considered "censored, censored and boring", don't worry, mainly what i dont personally like are flame wars.
Don't worry IR, your stuff is highly welcome, praised and accepted BTW, i haven't checked, but i hope your site is up and running _________________ [Citation Needed] |

THey have been modified, as many artists came to me and said: HEY!!!! Am I in trouble? Will I be Banned?
The answer kids, is no.
What the rules were specifically geared towards was porn pictures - ya know - naughty bits in PHOTOGRAPHS.
We here feel that as long as you warn everyone in the SUBJECT that it has the Possibility of being an adult picture, we are pretty cool with it.
This does mean that Yiff images are Right Out, as well as any pics that have any type of sex act.
That means ANY type.
Ok?

This concludes your daily mandatory moderator beatdown, we now return you to your regularly scheduled forum of Sweetness and Light (already in progress.)
And that concludes my opinion on the matter. _________________ (00:40:05) nbz: you win at the motherf***ing internet O_O |
