A very small, non-urgent favor....
Here's the deal; Instead of windows, I use a linux distro(in this case, Ubuntu), and not being a gamer 99.99% of the time I don't miss windows in the least(better in some ways too!). But right now is one of those times.
Having read 'Pride of Honor' and 'Chanur's Legacy', I decided to try 'Chanur's Venture' on Filestube to see if could get a free download(*ahem*); Seems to be the only one of the series NOT available on rapidshare. Make that 'only one not available in English'. Grrr. To my joy I found via google a post in their forums linking to a MASSIVE collection of sci-fi books(the THIRD of it i downloaded took an hour! ), including 'Chanur's Venture'(Yay!) Here's where the favor comes in....
Turns out all of the files are .Lit format, which only works for Windows and I can't seem to successfully convert. Can't quite get convertlit to work, and even tried extracting and sending as an attachment to Gmail in hopes of opening as a google document and saving as another format - no joy; only lets me save as the same format. So if some kind soul - with a, errh, 'liberal' view of copyright law() - would let me mail it to them as an attachment(only the one story, not the endtire one-hour download! ) , open it, copy and paste to say a Word of OpenOffice document and mail that back to me, they'd have my thanks.
Like I said, hardly urgent(I'll have a chance to do it myself in due time), but would be much appreciated.
Thanks |

Where the article mentions convertlit and a couple other programs to convert files from .lit to other formats? Thank you, but I already have convertlit(Unsure if the others are work for linux), and like I said above, can't seem to quite get it to work. You have to run it from command-line in 'Terminal'; frustratingly, when I follow the instructions I've been able to find - the EXACT command given - it does something, but doesn't successfully convert the file, which suggests I'm just missing it by that much. *holds fingers almost touching* Aaarrgh.
Thanks for the suggestion, though. |
