Just to update those that are following my kidney stone ordeal. I'm currently scheduled for lithotripsy this Friday, 2/11.
I can tell you it's coming none too soon for me, since I must have a second stone on the move. I did pass the first large stone, a real "Oh Hell!" moment. Sized out at 5mm x 9mm, sorta bean-shaped.
I'll update Friday evening.

Counting the hours, I bet. Glad to hear the suffering is coming to an end! |

Quick update. The procedure went well, according to the doctor in charge. The stone broke up nicely but I haven't passed any fragments yet.
I'm still a bit loopy from the pain meds given to me during the procedure and I have a bit of a headache too. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow.
Now to figure out a modified diet to prevent this from happening again.

Glad you're okay!
I do hope you need no more than a simple adjustment to your diet. |

Glad to hear things are improving for you, Kel.
No ideas for a recommendation on diet improvements. Would substituting alcohol for food help, or make things worse?

I wouldn't mind the 'more alcohol' but I'm sure my liver would protest.
I was told to lay off the red meat (grr . . .) and dark green veggies. I will have to switch favorite colas because the caramel coloring contributes to kidney stones. I'm going to try Diet Mountain Dew. Not bad tasting, by the way. Finally, I have to lay off the salt, have no more than one serving of milk per day and decrease my coffee consumption (double grr!).
Now if my side would recover to a point that it doesn't hurt when my work pants and belt lay against it, I'll be a happy camper. That lithotripsy machine hammered my kidney stone with three thousand pulses of ultrasound. That might not sound like much but the cumulative effect is pretty painful. It's getting better now, though.

Well, two and one-half years down the road from the last post. I was dealing with some other health issues and finally got those somewhat under control, now I have a pinched sciatic nerve in my back!
Sciatica . . . Grrrrr!
Let me tell you, this has to be Hel, since a living being could not hurt this much.
Well, the 'Saw-Bones' says four to six weeks, maybe surgery if it will not clear up. I'm just thrilled.
did I mention the meds? I've lost my drive to write, since my mind is just too fuzzy to concentrate on the screen for very long.
If you could, say a prayer for a swift recovery. I can't take this pain for much longer.

Hard to understand why you are 'collecting' these painful things.
Sorry to hear it's caught you again.
Hang in there! |

Owie is right! Big time owie!
Oh well, I've improved a bit, but I'm still unable to work. They did say surgery and that thought disturbs me. I'm not sure I could handle being laid up like that with basically nobody to watch over me during the day. Might have to do the recovery hospice thing if it comes to letting the saw-bones cut on me.
With my meds, I'm glad there's a backspace key.
