Hey all!
I received a B&N Nook for Christmas (Yay me!). Anyway, ePub is one of the formats that will work with my Nook. It will read other formats (pdf's and others) but ePub will reflow the text.
The questions is, would you read my scribblings in ePub format?

heck Kellan, my 'puter had problems reading your last chapter in .pdf from your website! I had to download it and open it before I could read it. I have no idea if ePub would even work on my old Dell.

Hmm . . .
TM, I've had that problem before, usually signified by a pop-up that says "File doesn't start with %pdf." Refreshing the page will (usually) clear that for me.
ePub is a format that's not usually used by persons reading stories on the computer. I was actually thinking of giving this choice so someone could download one of my stories to their digital book reader (Nook, Kindle, etc.)
Be assured that I will not abandon .pdf format.
Thanks for the input. _________________ "Старый боевой конь, Кeллан" |

I don't believe that .epub is supported by the Kindle.
(According to Amazon, it supports: "Kindle (AZW), TXT, PDF, Audible (Audible Enhanced (AA, AAX)), MP3, unprotected MOBI, PRC natively; HTML, DOC, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP through conversion.")
It can of course display html just fine 'natively', but only in the rather hopeless browser, and it doesn't allow opening local files, or saving any files.
It may be that unprotected MobiPocket files would be a better choice. _________________ "My name's Lion, Anthony Lion"

PDF on a Nook is handled differently than ePub.
ePub is displayed a page at a time or portions of a page if there is more text than can be displayed at once. The text 'reflows' as they like to say, to give optimum text size for reading. ePub is also read vertically, in normal page layout.
PDF is read more like your PC browser, but the text does not reflow. It is re-sizable and the screen is allowed to rotate the text into landscape mode.
Just throwing this out there to see what everyone would prefer. At some point I will be putting The Immortal Warrior series into a format for e-readers, so I was looking for input.
And as I indicated to TM, I prefer PDF, too. _________________ "Старый боевой конь, Кeллан" |
