Simplest explanation is it's frakking slow. |
My first bit of advice is to get an external drive, like NOW.
My reason for saying so is that a computer that suddenly slows down a great deal usually has trouble of a physical variety - and aside from the smart move it is to back up, it'll ensure that if something IS wrong, you've got that backup.

Do a search for Adaware and spybot search & destroy run them both one at a time. then if it's still slow clean up your "Startup" group under all programs in the start menu. Finally go to RUN and type msconfig go to the startup tab and uncheck any boxes for programs you don't recognize or don't need. _________________ "Political Correctness is tyranny with manners." I appreciate all the advice, it's moving a bit faster, but it just isn't quite the same, I have no way to get an external drive at this point. (Reason is readily noticeable in the other thread.)
At this point I'm praying it doesn't fail on me, because I have rather important documents on here. _________________ Ciara 12/26/08

Another suggestion might be to buy an SD card reader and hook it up to your computer. Its like a very advanced yet a whole lot smaller version of the floppy disk drive. I've noticed it to be a lot more reliable in data storage than my combination CD-+R-+ RW/DVD-+R-+RW rom. Often times I have a lot of trouble getting other computers to recognize the ReWritable data I have stored on my disks, but they recognize the Read-only disks just fine for some reason. _________________ Asalis: (uh*sah*lis)

I would post that log on a spyware forum, I don't know of any, but there's plenty out there.
Also, simplest solution would to be just use a USB flash drive and transfer the files to another computer (running Linux if that makes you feel more secure) or do what Mike said and get that or a hard drive enclosure, something like these. |

I posted the log here because anthony told me to, but there are a few places it could go that I know of. As for the other advice, this goes for everyone. I appreciate it, and will keep it in mind, but at this point I need free alternatives. I have no money to work with fellas.
(on that note, i do have a USB transfer cable, just nothing to transfer to xD) _________________ Ciara 12/26/08
