Introduction to Vampire's Drought.

I started to write Vampire's Drought back around 1990-92.

As to why I started to write it, it was a combination of a dare and a teaching mechanism. Like Lord Byron and the Shellys (Percy & Mary), a contest to create the scariest stroy ended with Mary Shelly creation of "Frankenstien."

At the rate of about 4 chapters a week, I managed to complete almost 30 chapters in under 2 months. Those who dares me into this challenge, were impressed, comparing me to Ann Rice; though I thought my work to be lacking in certain areas. (Years later, when I finally read Ann Rice's works, I found it to be lacking and different; so unlike Bruam Stroker's Dracula. In thinking about the past, in comparing me to her, I found it insulting. Not that her work was "lacking," but because I was told of the simillar writing style we use, which I can not find. Her work is that of her own, as mine is mine. There is no comparison between the two.) It took another year to find and repair mistakes, other than those involving spelling and grammatical ones. To write any story, one must be careful with character placement in both time and space; and I have had some major mistakes that literally broke several laws of physics. Not even a supernatural being can be at two places at exactly the same time.

Later on, during some fine tuning of the story, the laptop it was in was lost. I thought it was stolen, and blamed various individuals for its demise. At this point, I decided that rewriting the story would not be worth it because it would be a different story when it was redone.

Life and everyday living had its affects on the story. If found years sooner, it may have been completed years ago. But almost 10 years later, the laptop was found, still in working condiction, and the files intact.

I'm giving this and most of my older works an online life, so to share it with everyone. Eventually when completed, I will be give total access to the full story as an electronic document for those with e-book capabilities. Weekly installments of the story will continue.

The story is about relationships, both long and short, and their effects on one another. Its about people, their interactions with each other, and the consquences of their actions and inactions. Its about disease, history, injuries, pain, emotions and how some would deal with them. Its about the supernatural and the natural. Its about all those elements that makes the human condiction something more than just something that exists on a daily basis.

The difference between a book and a work of art is that a book has a beginning and an end; art only has a beginning. Currently, this book has no end.

The story continues, and heading to an end.
