A Fast Introduction
CAUTION: Spoiler material included.

The year is 2066. The place is, well, all over the Earth. It is an Earth populated by sentient species, none of which are human, although all are humanoid. Jack Black (a fox) and Cecil Stewart (a giraffe), two roving engineers and troubleshooters for TLATech, fix machines, survive disasters, fall in love, beat the bad guys, make social commentary, and inflict Gilbert and Sullivan songs and merciless puns upon the world.   There's romance, danger, victory, wisdom, really bad jokes.  What more do you want?

A. The Characters and Settings

A.1 ) Who is Jack Black?
Jack Black is a fox. Jack is a traveling engineer, roaming from one assignment to the next, repairing equipment for TLATech.  Jack and Cecil travel in his high powered 2066 Thunderbird. Intelligent and hardworking, if a bit shy and naive, he knows more about handling machines than he does people. Cars especially.

Currently, Jack's trying very hard to understand a very shy lady: Jenny Curtis.

Addendum (6/07): Jack and Jenny Curtis have committed to each other; although they are not yet married, he is no longer 'dispersing', searching for a mate.

First Appearence: 1999/02/14
|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section A]|

A.2 ) Who is Cecil?
Cecil Stewart is a giraffe. Cecil is Jack's partner in their travels. While Jack handles hardware, Cecil handles the software side of things. Being from a herding species, Cecil is a much more social creature. Loves to sing Gilbert & Sullivan. Recently married to Barb and Beth.
Cecil and Jack each have their blind spots, but between them, they can keep each other on their toes.
Cecil recently married Barb and Beth, in a Herd-Ceremony; being giraffes, not only is it acceptable, its mandatory - for what is a giraffe without its herd?

First Appearence: 1999/02/14

A.2a) Why does Cecil want to wear a kilt?
You think someone named 'Stewart' is going to wear lederhosen? Although on a giraffe, it may be less of a kilt than an awning.
|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section A]|

A.3 ) Who is Jenny Curtis?
Jenny is a rather mysterious lady, mainly because she's rather shy about herself. She works as an engine designer for the Lockheed-Martin-Textron Skunkworks down at the Kenedy Spaceport, in Kenedy Texas. An excellent pilot, she is also the part owner of Bali Hai Aviation school at nearby El Coyote field. It would seem that she's shy about her past due to an encounter with a not-so-nice boyfriend, but she's learning to open up to Jack.

Jenny's first appearance was very early in the comic's story line, but we (and Jack) didn't learn her name for more than a year.

First Appearence (as the mysterious vixen): 2000/02/14
Jenny's name is mentioned in: 2001/06/04

A3a) What's that arrowhead design on the back of Jenny's jacket?
Scott says:

The arrowhead is actually supposed to be the logo of Bali Hai Aviation. Depending upon your point of view, it's either an arrowhead, or three runways intersecting at one point.

It started as being inspired by the Cessna Company Logo, drawn from memory

Submitted by: Sleepy John (04/06)
|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section A]|

A.4 ) Who are Barb and Beth?
Barb Kendall and Beth Regina, giraffes, are programmers at the LMT Skunworks. The two of them are both enamoured of Cecil, who happily returns the favor and recently married them both. No jealousy involved. That's the way giraffes herd together. Beth and Barb are currently working hard to un-shy their best friend Jenny, by matching her up with Jack.

Barb & Beth first appear at the Cafe Kimba, along with Jenny, early in the comic's story line.
By The Way, Barb is the Brunette, Beth is the Blonde.

First Appearence: 2000/01/18
|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section A]|

A.5 ) What is TLATech?
TLATech (TLA : Three Letter Acronym) is an engineering firm, which makes robots and other high-tech equipment. Jack and Cecil are roving trouble-shooters for TLATech, which puts them in peculiar situations from time to time. |[Back To Top]||[Back To Section A]|

A.6 ) What is LMT?
The Lockheed-Martin-Textron Skunkworks is a high-tech aerospace research corporation. |[Back To Top]||[Back To Section A]|

A.7 ) Who is Colonel Scobee?
Colonel Tora Scobee, a wolf, was once a test pilot, and engaged to Jenny Curtis. He augered in during a test flight, and had to have much of his right side and lower body replaced with bionic implants. The crash and operation left him bitter and aggressive, which he took out on Jenny. Jenny finally worked up the courage to break off the engagement.

Tora is a character of many facets, much like his physique is a mishmash of living and technological parts; thus creating several First Appearences where that much more about him was added:
As Mysterious Vehicle In Chase: 2001/08/01
Hint to it being stalking ex-bf: 2001/08/30
As mysterious driver: 2001/10/17
As 'Colonel': 2002/05/03
As Jenny's Fiancee:2002/05/24
Tora's name is mentioned (and Jenny's fear realized): 2002/05/24
Tora's last name mentioned: 2002/06/03

A.7a) What is the extend of Colonel Scobee's Bionics?
It has been stated many times through out the comic to what extent Tora's Bionics replaced what parts of his body, it is best stated by him while arguing with Ayesha Ansari on the virtues of replacing one's body parts for enhancing themselves on 2004/12/03. As he stated:

Right Eye, Right Arm, Right Shoulder, Spinal Column, Pelvis, Tail, Both Legs.
None Of It Willingly.
|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section A]|

A.8 ) Who is Smelly?
Clarence "Smelly" Johnson, a skunk, is the manager of the Skunkworks. He is boss to Jenny, Barb, Beth, and Col. Scobee.
Smelly was first seen as Jenny's boss in 2000/08/07

First Appearence: 2000/08/07

    Clarence has a family, a wife named Samantha and at least 1 unknown named kit.

    Wife's First Appearence: 2005/06/15
    Kit's First Appearence: 2005/08/17

|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section A]|

A.9 ) Who is Veronica?
Veronica Desmond is a vampire bat. Currently employed as a nurse at Moonbase Alpha, she dated Cecil for a while (don't ask).

Veronica is one of the earliest repeating characters in the strip, starting with the Ancient Archaeology strip #5. At that time, all characters were roughly the same size (except for Cecil); when Joe Maus came onto the scene, characters started appearing in roughly their natural proportions.

First Appearence: 2000/08/22

|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section A]|

A.10 ) Who is Johann?
Johann Maus is a mouse. Professionally an engineer, he is a process engineer at FAB 1999 on Moonbase Alpha. He and Veronica are very much An Item.

Joe first shows up 1999/11/29. At which time we learn that Jack, although vulpine, tries to make sure he doesn't eat customers or the more intelligent of his prey. Joe worked at first for AMD (Advanced Miceco Devices), but moved to Applied Marsupials, where he met Veronica.

First Appearence: 1999/11/29

Note: In the beginning of Johann's entry to the comic, he was refered to as either Joe Maus or Johann Maus.
|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section A]|

A.11 ) Who is Willy Nixon?
Willy Nixon is a raccoon. He was first seen in in A.A. #8, a con man being transported out of town. He appeared later on as a lawyer (jails often have large law libraries, and prisoners have lots of free time). As a lawyer, Willy is an ambulance-chaser, specializing in medical malpractice, product liability, and anything else with large payoffs to the lawyers involved.

Jack and Cecil first learned of the computer override codes from Willy, who learned them from other con artists.

Addendium: Willy was elected to the Supreme Court during the brief time that Predation was outlawed (as he said himself, it's amazing what you can do with the right passwords) and was able to get the ruling overturned.

|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section A]|

A.12 ) Who is John Walker Bambi?
John Walker Bambi is a deer. He is the leader of the malevolent Disneyists from Bambi's Forest, and has (and will) use his followers to any means towards the destruction of all technologies, including sending them into Do and Die, No Win Situations. Many from both sides of this personal little war have been killed, maimed and injured due to his decisions and actions.

Note: Though John Walker Bambi is willing to send others to their deaths to do his bidding, he won't sacrifice himself for the cause; though to his followers, it seems that he has returned from the grave on many occassions.

Note-2: There has been some confusion as to the descensant origins of John Walker Bambi. As of Aug 24, 2005, Scott Kellogg wrote the following entry on the 21cf forum:

Quote:
Actually, John Walker Bambi is a direct descendant to the original child actor.
Scott (I *think* I said that at one point, but I might have forgotten...) Kellogg

Addendium: John Walker Bambi has been caught, tried and sentenced for his crimes, serving a life-long sentence as a "Terrorist In His Natural Settings' display at the National Corrections Zoology Facility.

First Appearence: 2002/05/03 (on a wanted poster in the background)
|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section A]|

A.13 ) Who is Michele Bambi?
Michele Bambi is a White Rabbit. She is the anchor bunny for the BBBBBBC News.
There is no relationship between the Bunny Bambi and John Walker Bambi other than the mere concidence that they share the same last name.

A.13a) What Is The BBBBBBC?

The BBBBBBC is the Big Bodacous Bontiful Bouncy Bunny Broadcasting Corporation; The Broadcasting Station that Michelle Bambi works as achor bunny on their News Program.

(Possible) First appearances:2003/03/07
|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section A]|

A.14 ) Who is Ayesha?
Ayesha Ansari is a tigeress, in more ways than one. She was assigned to work with Col. Tora Scobee on the 300 km Buckyvator tower project, and has had an unsettling effect on the colonel's opinion of himself and other people. Ms. Ansari is a proponent of personal amplification through bionic implants, and is planning on having some work done on herself. She presents a persona of calm and grace under pressure, and when all else fails, she has her rubber mousie.

First appearance: 11/17/04
|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section A]|

A.15 ) Who is Dr. Tangent?
Dr. Nikolai Tangent, a poodle (yes, he's a guy- dont let those long eyelashes or that girlie appearence fool you!) is a Mad Scientist who is a TLAtech customer and therefore one of Jack and Cecil's recurring problems. Since he's the ninth richest person in the world, he doesn't worry about the warranties on the equipment, and is not interested in trivial details like input voltage limits. Dr. Tangent believes in Martians, Atlantis, cold fusion, the Piltdown Wolf, and pennying the fuses. His assistants are Elsa, Moriarty and Peter Lorre (who calls himself Igor so people won't make fun of him).

First mention: 4/10/00
First appearance: 5/2/00
|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section A]|

A.16 ) What is SHADO?

SHADO, the Security Homeland and Defense Organization, is an inernational government body dedicated to security and homeland defense (duh).
SHADO has access to very high-tech equipment for surveilliance and military-style operations, but, like all organizations, it relies on its people:

Commander Bishop, the commander of SHADO
First Appearence: 1/3/2005

John Drake and Yum-Yum Nezumi, two infiltration specialists
First Appearence: 3/7/2005

and

Adam West, Air Search and Rescue specialist.
First Appearence: 4/8/2005

There are many other members of SHADO, of different species, all dedicated to defending civilization and protecting the innocent.

|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section A]|

A.17 ) What is the DeBeers Cartel?

The DeBeers Cartel is a global mining and financial syndicate. The Cartel is enormously wealthy, pervasive, family-controlled, and powerful. The directors of the Cartel are lions from South Africa, who have a very conservative Old-World social structure. The Cartel maintains an elaborate private Village at Portmeiron, Wales.

The Rutherington-Smythe family is a major power in the cartel:

Mr. Rutherington-Smythe, Number One in the cartel, chairman of the board of DeBeers.

First Appearence: 11/13/02

Lance Rutherington-Smythe, his eldest son, a drunken wastrel bully who was killed by Jack. Since the lions will only accept that another lion could kill a lion, Jack's species ID was changed to 'lion', which created many problems for a small fox.

First Appearence: 12/21/01

Napoleon IV Rutherington-Smythe, his younger son, a 'wetware artist' and vegetarian.

First Appearence: 11/15/02

Galore Rutherington-Smythe, his daughter. Although relegated to a back row by the family ("They may be second-class citizens, but they're OUR second-class citizens!"), she is actually hard working, intelligent, dedicated, and no lion's fool.

First Appearence: 10/14/02

Also in the DeBeers Cartel:

Arthur Andresen, aka Number Five, the Chief Financial Officer and a nasty bit of work.
Authur's dislike of Jack stems from Jack's discovery of various programming errors which were avantagious to Authur's finanacial gain. Thus Authur goes after Jack and tried to kill him.
Committing Crimes: 5/16/03
Getting Caught: 5/23/06
Judgement and Punishment: 5/26/03
First (offical) Appearence: 2/28/03
First Appearence (as a thought presence): 2/26/03

Number 12, the Vice President in charge of Accounting, and a poster cub for corporate nepotism.

First Appearence: 2/27/03

An American lion, John King, an engineer, is not in the DeBeers family, but was an important part of the Education of Galore.

First Appearence: 3/26/03

A.18 ) Who Is Steve Carlson?

Steve Carlson (horse) is a newly-minted doctor of physics from the Hawaiian Institute of Technology, which is Jenny's alma mater. He has been hired by Smelly Johnson to work on the Prometheus II Project's engine design and assembly at the orbital yards.

Dr. Carlson was engaged to Maris, but gave her up so that she could pursue her relationship with Bud, and he could pursue his career.

First appreance: 10/30/06

|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section A]|

A.19 ) Who is Maris?

Maris {No-Last-Name} (nag) was living with Dr. Steve Carlson. She was a Psychology major, and majored in pushing Dr. Carlson's buttons. When he told her he had found work in Antartica, she dumped him for Bud, a Clydesdale she had met over the VR network.

First appearance: 10/30/06 A.19 ) Who is Bud?
Bud is... a Tortoise in real life, who poses for a Clydesdale on VR. It is VR Bud that Maris fell for.

Possible First Appearance as VR: 10/30/06
First appearance as VR: 11/13/06
First appearance in RL: 11/30/06
|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section A]|

A.20 ) Who is Oscar?

Oscar is a weiner dog, pardon, dachsund pup with a penchant for running free and an inexplicable passion for following Jenny. Oscar is pre-verbal: he speaks dachsund, but not English, so even related species have difficulty understanding his speech.

First Appearance: 12/18/06
His mother is Polly Purebred.

First Appearance: 01/01/07

|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section A]|

A.21 ) Who is Fayette Cavor?

Dr. Cavor (Belgian draft horse) is a mathematical physicist (or physical mathematician, depending) from Penzance, England, who is working on the Prometheus II project with Jenny. She is a Neo-Victorian of great standing. Dr. Cavor is a widow, her husband having perished in a prosthetic forehead accident on the Star Trek set.
Dr. Cavor was an Orchestral Musician in school, in the Artillery Section.

First Appearance: 01/08/07

|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section A]|

A.22 ) Who is Jimmy Hapgood?

Major Jimmy Hapgood (mustang) is the pilot of "Travellin' Man II", a freighter making delivery runs to the Argosy Shipyards. He is also experienced in EVA, and picks up a lot of outside jobs. "Travellin Man II" is able to transport passengers as well as equipment, making it a mustang's convertible. Hapgood was the pilot of the ill-fated 'Icarus III' (4/16/07)

First Appearance: 3/26/07

|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section A]|

A.23 ) Who is Ernst Queller?

Dr. Ernst Queller (horse) is the on-site Director of Prometheus II at the Argosy Shipyards. He is a German Neo-Victorian. The Queller family have been active in space drive research since 1999.

First Appearance: 5/07/07

A.24 ) Who is Jackson Roykirk?

Dr. Jackson Roykirk (Siamese cat) is the developer of the DNA operating system (Dextrous Networked Assembly) used by the Helix-model robots on the Prometheus II Project. DNA is not working quite up to spec, Dr. Roykirk is quite sure that the software is not at fault.

First Appearance: 5/21/07

B. The World of the 21st Century

B.1 ) Who is Jonny Freakinouter?
I think he's related to John Galt on his mother's side. |[Back To Top]||[Back To Section B]|

B.2 ) Who are the Disneyists?

The Disneyists are a religous sect based on the films of Walt Disney. They believe that the films of Disney reflect a Golden Age of the world, to which we should all try to return. Some Disneyists are benign and benevolent. Some believe in the violent overthrow of current society, and target installations like LMT to try to eliminate 'bad' technology (namely, all technology).
|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section B]|

B.3 ) What is a buckyvator?
A device used in the production of buckminsterfullerenes. Nanotechnology allows Buckytubes to be used for everything from ultra high strength carbon fiber to superconducting computer chips. It's either that or Darth Vader's nickname on his fantasy baseball team. |[Back To Top]||[Back To Section B]|

B.4 ) Why are all the machines sentient?
Many of the machines in 21CF are equipped with Artificial Intelligence (A.I.), to provide them with the autonomy they need to operate without operators. Back in the 1980s, it was discovered that most people do not like talking cars, despite their popularity in TV shows of the time. Transportation such as Jack's Thunderbird, the Moonbase Eagle, etc. have on-board computers but are not therefore intelligent. They are, however, extensively networked so they can report their position, status, passenger vital signs, etc. Machines that have to operate on their own, such as the 007 Tunneler, the Lindbergh probe, and the Venus explorers, large buildings such as LMT-207, and some other transports such as Scout-4, do have AI.

The AIs are under restrictions similar to Asimov's Three Laws. Fulfilling their functions is OK. Harming people is Not OK. The robots do not want to be Not OK. There are various override passwords that are not supposed to be public knowledge which allow operators to give orders to the AIs that they would ordinarily reject.

The relationships between the robots and the engineers can extend to what amounts to friendship on both sides.
|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section B]|

B.5 ) How can predators and prey work side-by-side?
The world on the twenty-first century is a civilized one, governed by law and custom, but with the predator/prey relationship between species an accepted part of life. Predators are expected to curb their appetites around their herbivorous co-workers (Smelly Johnson takes pride in fostering this attitude at the Skunkworks). However, Nature still rules. A fox can take down a rabbit if provoked. Jenny thinks it's funny that Jack would have a friend who's a mouse. Giraffes still fear lions, especially after the 1972 Giraffe-Lion Anti-Ballistic Hoof Treaty. Lion law tends to overrule other kinds, because who's going to walk up to the council of the most powerful lions on earth and say No? |[Back To Top]||[Back To Section B]|

B.6 ) Why should a necklace of bells be a criminal sentencer?
In the 21st Century, the law does not, apparently, allow for the death sentence even for capital crimes. We've seen two instances of criminals being 'belled' for murder or attempted murder: the lion who tried to kill Jack, and the terrorist John Walker Bambi.

Scott explains JWB's bells:
Quote:
I couldn't think of a way to explain it in a joke, but those sleigh-bells locked on his neck have a tracking system. Should he venture outside the confines of his cage, they become "Slay-bells".

Which rather neatly leaves the issue of the death penalty up to the criminal himself.

Similar bells are locked on the lions, but the lions aren't caged. Are they the same?

Scott says:
Quote:
Yes, but their movements aren't tracked. Their collars would prevent them from ever making a kill for food. The collars only become "Slay-Bells" if they try to take them off. To eat, they'd have to buy food or beg for it. Not too many people would be willing to hire someone who'd been belled. Trying to scare another animal away from a kill might work, except they'd laugh at their bells. And not too many folks would give handouts to people who've been belled either. They can either eat spam if they can afford it, or become vegitarians [sic].
|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section B]|

B.7 ) Why is Veronica almost Jenny's size in the beginning of 21CF, and more Joe Maus' size later on?
There is a possibility that Scott decided during the course of the strip to be more accurate with the animals' relative sizes, so Jack would be smaller than a giraffe or a lion, but bigger than a breadbox. It wasn't worth going back and redoing earlier strips, though.

The more logical explanation, suggested by Nebulous Rikulau, is that Veronica simply wanted to upstage Jenny, and stood much closer to the camera.
|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section B]|

B.8 ) What's so special about Valentine's Day? The denizens of 21st Century Fox have the same physical cycles as the counterparts of our world, including the cycles of estrus and mating. Some species, such as giraffes, have a frequent cycle; other species, such as foxes, have an annual cycle.

"What do you mean, once a year?!"
"What do you mean, every two weeks?!"

Valentine's Day, in February, marks the time in the fox cycle when the female goes into estrus. Although they can mate at any time of the year, this is when it really counts. It is therefore a big disappointment for Jack and Jenny, having committed to each other and forming a skulk, to find that Jenny's job will place her nearly a quarter of a million miles away at that time. http://techfox.comicgenesis.com/d/20060116.html
|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section B]|

B.9 ) What are the Neo-Victorians?
The Neo-Victorian movement is a reaction to the social standards of the 21st century by reviving those of the 19th. The dress standards, customs of speech and behavior, music, dance, etc. are patterned on high English society of Queen Victoria. It should be noted that standards of social equality, specifically the rights of women, are not as repressive as the Victorian model.

Many members of the Prometheus II Project are Neo-Victorians.
|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section B]|

B.10 )What is the Prometheus II project?
Prometheus II is an effort to create a more efficient nucular propulsion system for spacecraft, that would allow people to reach the planets in days rather than months or years. LMT is the principal design and assembly corporation, after winning a promise from Congress that Congress would stay out of it. The assembly work is being done in orbit, at the Argosy Shipyards. The ship is the LDRS (Large Dangerous Rocket System) SAVANNAH. Historically, several ships named 'Savannah' have been at the forefront of propulsion systems innovation, back to the days of sail and steam.

D. 21CF Firsts D.1 ) First Gilbert & Sulivan Act
D.2 ) First Full Color Strip
D.3 ) Marriages
D.4 ) Deaths
D.5 ) Births

D. 21CF Firsts

D.1 ) First Gilbert & Sulivan Act First Gilbert & Sulivan Act is performed by Cecil, on 2000/11/07, where later on others joined in. Cecil's G&S Act was brought about by his injury on 2000/10/23, where he breaks his horn, which for giraffes is part of their skulls (skull fracture).

During his rescue and treatment by Nurse Veronica, who was volunteering her services for storm survivors; Veronica recognized Cecil and admittedly hints of their past relationship to Comfort Tiger.
Comfort Tiger and her boyfriend Dozer Cheetah are from The Suburban Jungle, Where Comfort is Tiffany Tiger's Sister.

D.2 ) First Full Color Strip
First full colored strip occured during Jenny's lone rescue of Jack and his Thunderbird, which was after the rescue and medical treatment of the storm survivors. On the way 'home,' they both saw a rainbow, and though in awed by its presence, questioned how it would look if they could see it in color (like most canines, Jenny and Jack are colorblind).

First colored strip from which the rest of comic remains in color occured on 8/6/01
|[Back To Top]||[Back To Section D]|

D.3 ) Marriages
The marriage of Cecil, Beth and Barb occurred on 2004/06/28, after years of courtship and dating. Jack was the Best Man for Cecil while Jenny was one of the Bride's Maids for Beth and Barb. After the wedding, as per tradition, Jack and Jenny stood guard in the other room while the husband and wives spent their first night together as a unified herd.

D.4 ) Deaths
In keeping with the universal constant, on average, a person dies about every 11 seconds. As of yet, no major characters has had to undergo the fate of the end of life; though Jack has had many close calls... but many minor characters have died. Amoung the (high!) body count, millions had paid the price for Jihad; many Disneyists have died or been killed due to decisions and actions made by Johnny Walker Bambi, along with several S.H.A.D.O. Operatives. One drunken lion was killed by the jaws of Jack- though it was in self defense. |[Back To Top]||[Back To Section D]|

D.5 ) Births
In keeping with the universal constant, on average a person is born about every 3 seconds, no new characters were born to any of the major characters as of yet. |[Back To Top]||[Back To Section D]|

E: Historical Events in 21CF E.1 ) 1972 Antiballistic Hoof Treaty
E.2 ) Comet Fragment Hits Venus
E.3 ) End Of The Battle Of The Sexes...

E. Historical Events in 21CF

E.1 ) 1972 Antiballistic Hoof Treaty Mention of the 1972 Antiballistic Hoof Treaty was made shortly before the time of Jack's Kidnapping by the DeBeer's Lions. |[Back To Top]||[Back To Section E]|

E.2 ) Comet Fragment Hits Venus
During the Long HoneyMoon of Cecil, Barb and Beth, where the wives continued to work from a remote computer station monitoring a series of Venus robotic probes, the discovery of a comet was made whose orbit trajectory was altered by the Sun's gravity weeks before. The orbit change was enough to fragment the comet in half, of which one part would impact with the planet's surface and the other to burn up in the planet's atmosphere, causing it to rain. This comet impact would forever change the Venusian landscape
Thanks to Forumite TGIF in finding an error that stated the comet's orbit being altered by Jupiter, instead of the Sun.

E.3 ) End Of The Battle Of The Sexes...
A News Flash on 03/12 from the President of the United States announced '...the end to mjor combat operations. The war is over!'
Jack's response (as was pretty much everyone else's) was, '...I never dreamed it woould end... ...not in my lifetime...'
To which Beth verified, 'The battle of the sexes... is over...'

There was much rejoicing everywhere.

Section F
F: Canons, Parallel Universes, and Fan Fiction F.1 ) What is 'FAB 1999'?
F.2 ) Family Relations Outside of 21CF?

Canons, Parallel Universes, and Fan Fiction

F.1 ) What is 'FAB 1999'? The story 'FAB 1999: A Mouse Odyssey' is the longest 'side-story' in the 21CF canon. It concerns Joe Maus, and his experiences on the Moon working at Tombaugh Station for Applied Marsupials.

Tombaugh Station is named for Clyde Tombaugh (1906-1997), the astronomer who found Pluto.

Joe Maus and Veronica Desmond are noted above. Other interesting people are:

Capt. Bob Keeshan (a kangaroo) and his assistant, Mr. Moose (first appearance http://techfox.keenspace.com/d/20030728.html and http://techfox.keenspace.com/d/20030730.html) Capt. Keeshan is the commander of Tombaugh Station, its production facilities, and its personnel. Part of his job is to enforce a strict No Fraternization policy among the unmarried station staff.

Some of Joe's co-workers are Beatrix Nutkin (squirrel), Kevin O'Reilly (possum) and Kate Petruchio (shrew).

One of the people Joe meets at Moonbase Alba, in Larson Crater on the Farside (do you really need that explained) is Destin Ange, a rabbit (http://techfox.keenspace.com/d/20031107.html). She is one of Les Lapins Lunaire Lumineux, the glowing green rabbits of Larson Station. One of the first people at Moonbase Alba was a rabbit who had had genetic engineering for a green glow. This should not have been passed on, but rabbits aren't much on this 'No Fraternization' idea. The rabbits of Moonbase Alba resort to extremes of body modification to make themselves unique, or at least different from everone else.

Some of the machines and robots we meet along the way are Oscar 7, Joe's space suit (a tip of the hat to Heinlein's "Have Space Suit, Will Travel"), Archelon the transport vehicle, and Colossus the mining machine.

Jenny Curtis is a Naturalized American Citizen from Alberta Canada, where Mynarski Forest resides.
