Found some rather old pictures (three years or so, back in 05), of myself and IronTiger doing some sword practice at an old barn he had access to. And I was curious who all is interested in such things.
During this whole thing, Journye was watching, and PrincessB was the photographer. In fact, all the pictures here she took!

We had a lot of fun, and as you can see, even foxy got a swing or two in. And we all had fun afterwards splashing about in a nearby spring-fed stream. Anyone else have pictures of fun swordplay? *eyes Sigurd*

Yes you struck up a nerve from me.
In my youth I began gathering sword and such.
Then I began to play Larp (sadly my spare time does not allow to continue this hobby Sad ) I even found some pics from a Larb some years back were I was here is the link

Yeah, we haven't done that in a long time! Smile
Now I have a better camera to catch better action pics also.
One of the times we borrowed your sword we took some pics of me attacking things but I'm not really certain where they are right now.

he he . i`m a medieval sword fighter my self and bashing wood is not a good training.
every body can swing a pice of steel against a undefended piece of wood.
my warband train on each other, much more fun. and specialy if one is
training for a battle field or show fight.

About the extent of my sword experience is plastic lightsabers. I've broken around ten of them in battle. Very Happy
Wouldn't mind learning with an actual sword, though.

My best bud knows about that stuff. He's spent years studying the various forms of Martial arts behind sword fighting. He's slowly trying to teach me the various stuff. How to defend yourself unarmed against a sword, dagger etc. How to fight back when you got a sword, metal rod etc, how to defend against such attacks etc.

He's slowly tried to weed in some teachings on how to fight using 2 swords. It's a rather scary person now that i think about it >.> perhaps I shouldn't tease him about his height anymore o.o

I'm the one on the right with the long pony-tail. This was not a posed shot Patty just happened to get it at the right time. This was full speed sparring not just paired kata.

only metal sword i ever help was a blunt one a friend bought and it deteriorated after a few years because it was not meant to be used as anything but a cheap show piece. It was instead used as a practice sword for bored kids (my best friend and myself as the main culprits).

a good fighting sword for real fights is always blunt.
its a shame to losse some body parts if its sepossed to bee a friendly fight.
but a good sword is made by a blacksmith and not the factory stuff.

most showswords for on the wall are not even temperd and are to soft to fight with.

Which is why they are actually affordable. Buying a $600 sword is a bit much for something to hang on the wall.

Anyway, nice photos... although I have to ask, when will you read more stories to us? Wink

Since I have no idea what you look like (at least not to my knowledge) I am not going to try any find me.

Anyway, I admit that I am not an expert in the field, but during casual browsing I found that many of the actual, hand-made swords that can be used for fighting cost several hundreds if dollars, or euros.

BTW, you got it the other way around. 120 Euros would be about 175 US Dollar. That would make 175€ about $277. A Euro is worth more than a Dollar (about $1.58 at the time I am writing this.
