Why did you join the furry fandom and what do you think its about.

I will start by saying I think this fandom is all about having fun and role playing as your favorite character or animal !

Well, I think I'm somewhere between 'mundane' and full-fledged member of the fandom. When people ask what I enjoy reading, my answer's usually something like 'whatever catches my interest.' Razz

And over time, I realized that an inordinate percentage of work that 'caught my interest' was somewhat anthropomorphic in nature(I.E. Dean Koontz's 'watchers'(Must read!), Lindskold's 'wolf' series, Greg Howell's FREE internet fiction('The Human memoirs, Light on Shattered Water[especially]and it's sequel, both involving a human thrust into a world of anthro felids, and other work;Must read all - oh wait, did I say that already? Razz

), etc.) Still, anthro art or even fiction by itself doesn't do THAT much for me - still has to be the 'right' work. Razz

And so, here I am. *Ta-dah!* Smile

I Will say that if I did I'd probably lean more toward canine than other. *Hmmmm....*

Beats me. I just hang out here. I like the art style, but I honestly don't get the appeal of dressing like an animal.

I want to fursuit and will when I get the money to buy a good quality suit. For me it's all about the role playing and the writing, though I'm going to start trying to draw as well.

Well, I've always felt more comfortable in the company of many animals than in the company of many humans (way too back stabbing). And animals have always liked me, pets that were known for being mean and snapping at everyone that passed would act like innocent babies when I was around. (My sister once owned a mostly grown pony, she and I were both riding the pony -together we maybe weithed 100 pounds if that, we were very skinny- it bucked her off, it's owner then kept going just fine with me still on it)
Tigers especially make me feel calm, yet energized because of the strength that I know they poses.
I mainly enjoy being in conection with others who like animals like I do, and reading furry stories can be fun. I also enjoy furry artwork, but NOT the porn, to me the furry porn takes a beautiful and majestic creature and lowers it to the dirty bowels of a sex obsessed mind (don't get me wrong, I can enjoy the naked human form right along with many guys out there but something about giving a beautiful animal a human pen15 and making it "interact" with everything in sight is disscussting to me). Good clean artwork does very much apeal to me.

I've felt an appeal to the "furry" side of things since I was self-aware enough to understand the concept. I love furry art and literature and cartoons and anime and so on. It's all good.

I have no desire to fursuit. Cosplay doesn't do it for me.

Role playing? Yeah, maybe. I haven't yet, mainly because I don't have that kind of discretionary time, but I used to be HEAVILY involved with D&D (in the distant and hoary past), and I think it'd be extremely cool to do something similar with anthro characters. Maybe after my kids all leave? Maybe after I retire? We'll see. Right now, between being a Dad & husband and working a full-time-and-then-some job and doing upkeep on an old house ... I just don't see it happening. My spare time, such as it is, is devoted to writing and reading.

I've loved furries all my life, but I never knew about the official fandom until November of 2006. Since then, I've been to two cons (and I plan to continue attenting), made a tail for myself and for my two older boys, written stories, and even started dabbling in artwork.

For me, the furry community is a bunch of friendly furs ranging from a wide variety of lifestyles. Honestly, I've met more folks who live so-called 'alternative' lifestyles since 2006 than I'd ever met in my combined 33 years previous. But it doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I've seen much more tolerance and acceptance in this community than any other community I've seen.

I stumbled upon the fandom through a site that sold collections of furry artwork, I don't know if it's even up anymore (Happy Jackal Graphics), from there stumbled onto Sabrina Online comic, then to the fanfics. And what Actually brought me to Planet Furry was Hikaru's Identity Crisis story, as I wanted to post reply's and questions on the forum. About 2 weeks later I actually looked at the rest of the forums. Been here since.

But as to what draws me to it is I like the artwork and stories and the fact that most furries are willing to help each other out if possible.
