*SNICKER* Which is why he obviously didn't state whcih one, nearly all of them have been guilty of such design nightmares at one time or another. Though I do admit that some have more of a reputation that way than others - as do some component manufacturers.

<Chuckle> Very nice, very nice indeed. And it "proves" that engineering universals truly are.

Afraid you agree with me?!? Hey, come on, Tygon, this is me, not Skunkfox! You don't have to be afraid to agree with me; I won't lead you into anything you should be afraid of... Twisted Evil

Sorry, I'm in a bit of a strange mood. Work's been hell so far this week, I'm only halfway through the week, and I just bailed out for the day. My feet hurt, I'm tired, and I think my view of the world has gone a little surreal...

Sorry, I just realized how wrong that might come across. I just wanted my post to sound a little funny.

Galadrion, I apologize. It was supposed to be a joke, no insult or offense in any form.

No waiting time is too long for this kind of text Mike. I really like it.

Wow. A wonderful "capture" of the title mood. This was a beautifully crafted bit of writing - not profoundly earth-shattering, but a good piece of character exposition for Roger. Not as much development for Sehh'Remma, but then, she's not the focus - and still, she manages to leave her mark on the tale. She has a few rather deep insights into her chosen's psyche, and reveals a part of her own as well. A good, gentle piece.

It also held a bit of private meaning for myself - nothing which particularly reflects on the story, just an odd coincidence of timing which provoked a private chuckle.

I like it, Mike. You had a deft touch for tale-weaving when you began, my friend, but I'm pleased to say that it's grown while you've been crafting these offerings. I do hope your muse chooses to visit further with you...

Nice little fun episode. Smile

Unfortunately, while realing me a rather unpleasant realization hit me: Evil or Very Mad

The furs are portraied very negatively in this universe.
Why? Mainly because the humans are depicted as shining examples of humanity. Maybe the furs just had big luck to fall into the hands of decent humans, but this shows the furs against whom they fought in a very negative light.

Historically (that is up to now and including the last few wars) human leaders have never lost a lot of sleep over sacrificing part of their troops (particularly those of "allies") to achieve a goal. All the recent wars have been very "dirty" with a lot of civilian victims.
The wolves were very lucky that their ships were not proof against EMP, otherwise (unless they had defeated the humans) their world would now be a nuclear wasteland.

True...

I believe this is what is called propaganda...
The humans know they need help and may gloss over certain points.
And Rrsh'Dhana certainly haven't had the time or opportunity to do a comprehensive study of Earth history.

Nope...
If their ships had been EMP proof, the fleet could not have been destroyed and the Phoenix would not have been able to get off Earth and safely into Hyperspace.
With the fleet still in orbit it would have been just a matter of time before the situation on Earth had decayed too far. Just think about how much goods is being transported every day by cargo ships, by train or planes.
Imagine if that amount was cut to a third, or even a tenth?
