Hmmm, Anthony, that sounds more like Norton's 'Crosstime', Piper's 'Paratime', or RAH's 'Number of the Beast' except the leading characters knew they're entering a slightly off (or way off if unlucky) timeline/demension...

OK Aslaug, I'll chime in with some novel suggestions...

Your novel could be historical fiction set in facts surrounding an event. You seem to do so well with historical writing that your talents would shine in this department.

How about a mixed furry/human cast? Maybe a lead that's furry with a human mate? Just suggesting here ...

Time frame? How about 10th century to 14th century? There must be some good stuff to write in between these dates.

Let me know when your book is published,

Kellan

Plenty of stuff in the middle ages. Lots of story-ideas there, for sure.

You're the second person to suggest the human/furry mix (Tigermark did so over MSN this very morning), only he suggested Sci Fi...

Well, we'll see. Those are good suggestions for sure.

During that timeline(10 - 14th century), maybe a viking finds someone he likes during a raid... A crusader falls in love during a crusade... or is rescued by an unlikely figure?

The plague hit Europe... How would a rat handle the situation? And how welcome would he/she be?
It wasn't the rats themselves that was the plague-carriers... Also, if you could give the Swedes a little payback from naming the common, brown rat 'Rattus Norwegicus'...
The rat-catcher from Hameln(did I write that correctly?)...

Vlad the impaler...

I don't care much whether a story is furry, human or mixed, a good story is a good story. While you're waiting for more chapters among the various PF authors, you might want to head over to http://www.furlisophical.net/main.htm for a mixed human/furry scifi story, also a work in progress (though already quite long).

Whatever our filly decides to write next, I'm looking forward to it. Meanwhile, between chapters, I'm starting on another Anne McCaffrey series, Freedom's Landing.

Hmmm, 10th to 14th centuries?

How about a story about the Romany (gypsies) during that time frame? (my personal request) #Puppy dog #Puppy dog

Or merchant traders, perhaps a trading caravan on the move? (Louis Lamour did a wonderful tale about this, titled "The Walking Drum".)

Norse seafarers traveling to North America?

The Mongol invasion(s)? From either side...

Moorish Spain?

A traveling circus/entertainment troop?

A tinker or tinker band?

[edit]A traveling bard? Perhaps acquiring an unexpected apprentice?[/edit]

Gah, the possibilities are endless... If you want more, just ask.

And sign me up for an autographed copy of your book when it's published!

Have you read the short story 'Thorns of Barevi'?
(A short porn story she wrote in the 60s, and which started this series... Was published i one of her collections.)

*grins* Jeez guys, I actually have to write the book first Wink Everyone's asking for signed copies already and I am still sitting here, every time the idea of publishing comes up, telling myself 'don't be silly...who'd want to publish anything YOU wrote?'...

I know, I know...I shouldn't, but I can't help it. I really don't know if I have what it takes to publish anything even though people keep telling me that I do...

I guess I'll find out.

I read that years ago. An interesting story and concept. I think I've still got it somewhere in the library (which is mostly still in boxes, need to build bookcases...). Confused

Hmmm... May have to go dig that one out, again. Thanks for reminding me of that story, Anthony. Surprised

Heh. Filly, why don't you just package up Transitions I, or AVC, and submit it to a publisher or three? I think Baen might be a good place to start. I don't think that it's already on the web will be a stumbling block, although I could be wrong.

At the worst, they'll say no. On the other hand, they just might say yes. And since it's already written, you won't have spent the time and effort just to be turned down. It's one way to test the waters.

Worth considering. I have actually thought of revisiting AVC and either fixing up the errors as it is, or rewriting it as a human story, and then sending it off...

I'll consider what you said...

Listen Aslaug, I thought the same thing but now I am sitting here, my author's copies of my novel sitting right next to me.

I have to admit, I've begun to read my novel in paperback form and it seems different to see it this way. I even thought 'Gah, who wrote this cr@p!' at one point. Shocked

The bottom line is this; if somebody would publish my meager writings, I'm sure you would be a great author.

Go for it-write that novel. Be a famous author. You deserve it.

I would say correct whatever errors you believe exist, and then submit it. I freely admit to being prejudiced, but it works so very well as you have it written and I see no reason to change it to a human story. Very Happy Very Happy

Don't forget, you already have a magnificent piece of art for the cover, too.

Plus it'd be a lot less work. And you have two long and wonderful books ready to follow, and a third that is at least half-written. Why mess with a good thing?

Just my two-bits worth, filly.

Any chance of seeing a story about the Rom? Preferably furry? #Puppy dog Wink

I think I can say with absolute conviction that I won't be writing a story about the Rom.

There are dozens of reasons for that, but the most important would be that I know next to nothing about their history at the time, except that the popularized, Hollywood/Disney version is about as far from the truth as one can possibly get.

I'm sorry Nicolai, but I really would not want to risk tangling with that kind of story. I would not be able to do anything -resembling- a decent job at it...

Okay, Aslaug. I accept your reasoning. The Rom are a secretive people and their history is not at all well documented except by outsiders, and those outsiders usually had an axe to grind. They are a fascinating people, as well, which is one of the reasons I asked. I thought you might have access to sources that I have been unable to find.

There are many other stories available in those centuries, that have not been told before, especially in western society. I listed some, I know you can find more.

Whatever you write I am sure I will enjoy it. You haven't written anything yet that I could put down before I finished it, if then. Very Happy Wink

You are OBEA, and you will succeed.
