Rough draft animation ...

... and also definitive proof that I have way too much free time. Time which could almost certainly be spent more productively. Sleeping, for instance.
Content Paradise finally released a new velociraptor, and I couldn't resist tinkering with it. New phoneme and blink morphs, custom config file for Mimic, some earbuds that I modeled in about five minutes, plus a dynamic-cloth iPod cord. |

Hey, that's pretty cool! It's an iRap.
ZippyVideos just presents the file that Little Dragon uploaded, but forces it to play in Windows Media Player by the page coding they use. WMP does not know how to properly buffer a .mpg file so it starts to play the file immediately, which results in choppy playback. There's nothing wrong with the file at ZippyVideos. You need to hit the pause button on the player then wait a minute or so (or until it's done downloading) and hit play again. It will play perfectly. You can also download the file by examining the page source code to discover the name of the file. It's about 7.7 MB.
YouTube takes the raw video files people upload and mucks with them. In this case they've cut the sound quality and made the picture less sharp. This movie downloads much quicker than on ZippyVideos so I'm guessing the transformed file is about 1/4 the size of the original. They also do something to hide the file and file type inside their Flash player coding. I've not been able to figure out how to save any video from YouTube.

On my system, web-based MPEGs are handled by QuickTime, which admittedly also does a choppy job of things. But, after the video is fully loaded, I can usually right-click and save it directly to my hard drive, for later viewing in a media player of my choice.

YouTube and Google Video encode to Flash video format (.flv). There are a few standalone players available ... here's a popular one that I use:
http://www.martijndevisser.com/blog/article/flv-player-updated
It's possible to re-encode .flv to other formats using ffmpeg or other freeware utilities, but it's kind of a pain in the arse, especially if you no longer enjoy typing in lengthy command-line parameters.
People far more clever than I have already come up with ways to download and save files from YouTube. Try one of these:

Thanks. Found some dance footage on ZippyVideo and tried to recreate the motion in 3D. |

That was very interesting. Nice job with the animation and lip synching.
Is this going to be completed? I noticed that the song got cut off. |

Yes, I intend to work on this further, although it won't be longer. |

Here's yet another example of why I shouldn't be permitted any free time:
YouTube
ZippyVideos
(I was tinkering with the DAZ Charger this evening and decided to try the motion files I'd created earlier for the raptor ....) |

Finally got around to rendering the raptor animation. Here it is, in all its dubious glory:
YouTube
ZippyVideos
Google Video
Stage6 (requires DivX 6)
Google and Stage6 have the best video quality.
To ensure better audio quality at ZippyVideos, I encoded a copy to Windows Media format with Microsoft's Movie Maker software. I feel so unclean .... |

Awesome Job Little Dragon - Did you happen to model that raptor model out or is it from a certain poser packet?
Thanks if you can tell me. _________________

I probably could model something similar, given the time, but no, the new raptor figure was created by Sixus1 for e-frontier. It was given away as a freebie for one day only, as part of the Content Paradise birthday celebration back in March.
It isn't a regular for-sale product, so the only way to get it now is to join CP's Passport club. The raptor is on the bonus content CD.
For my own purposes, I made a few modifications (shortened the fingers, added Mimic-compatibility). The front teeth, in my opinion, need some major dentalwork, and I didn't care much for the posable eyelids (I replaced them with regular morphs), but otherwise it's a fairly good figure. Certainly a vast improvement over the original mutant raptor included in Poser.
I've posted a couple of still renders at FurAffinity, if you'd like to see more than just the head:

I really have to come around to this section more often as that was all just blatantly awesome. |
