Only a little over a week to go!
For those of you who haven't heard of it, NaNoWriMo stands for (inter)NAtional NOvel WRIting MOnth. It is a challenge, not a contest, with one simple rule:
Starting November 1 and ending November 30, write one novel of at least 50 000 words.
That's it. Why do it? Do you win a prize? Do you get a pat on the back? Not at all. You can have your document checked by the robots at nanowrimo.org for a word count and get verified as a Winner on the forums there, but you can also just type in that you've written more than 50 000 words. You're free to cheat, because NaNo isn't about boasting that you did it -- it's about knowing you did.
Recognising that there might be a few furries out there who feel like writing, I'll be making a beta version of the story archive site on which mysellf and a friend I won't name unless he says it's okay have been working for the past few months. Originally conceived as a non-yiffy counterpart of Yiffstar (Toumal even very generously gave us a copy of his codebase to work with), I realized that there were several core design decisions Toumal made which I simply disagree with.
The new archive is to be better organized, more work safe and focused on all types of furry fiction (yes, among which the smut) and while it's nowhere near finished, a stripped-down, bare-bones beta version will be made available before November 1 specifically to facilitate the furry NaNoers out there.
This archive features streamlined managing and reordering of story chapters as well as all-chapter word count totals--it is this last function that makes it eminently suitable for NaNo. On top of that, the web art was made by none other than Kamui. Zawesomes.
So, who's joining in the stressful fun? Who's organizing their ideas already, or who's planning to 'just wing it'? Does anyone have tips for software to help keep your material organized and on track? Let's hear it _________________ Head pot-scrubber of Bad Dog Books |
