actualy all the choices are good and many of those added by others as well yes even i have some disco (beegees earthwin n fire)

i specificaly chose the rock

Your teacher should have considered that the category of Rock has over a handfull of subgenres(SP) in itself. Heavy Metal, Speed Metal, Hard Rock, Light Rock, Ect. But seeing as I listen to heavy metal, speed metal, and metal rap the most I have to say rock for me.

IF I'm not listening to Alternetive then I'm listening to Country...or Stephen Lynch... I think he should be his own Music genre but that's a different story.

I voted rock but I listen mostly to metal (all kinds, old new, death, speed, etc.) I occasionally listen to electronic or country, but thats rare.

Does anyone know why metal from Europe is so much better than American metal? I've been try to figure that one out for years....

Given the choices ... Country, but aside from that I also listen to:

Metal
Medival Music (Corvus Corax, Schandmaul, In Extremo, etc.)
Techno
Rave
And a lot of other things I find interesting and worth hearing.

Of the choices listed, rock is my preference. That's a pretty broad category, though. My son would probably choose rock too, but he likes metal and I like classic rock.
