I think thats the problem, Hollywood got ride of all the old timers and went with the younger generation. Those who are supposed to be in synch with the younger crowd.

This is just another one of those concepts that needs to be left to burn in the firey pit of boringness.

Computer games do NOT work as films. Everything that's been attempted so far has failed miserably. (Some of the cheesy TV shows just got away by the skin of their teeth.)

Final Fantasy - Failed.
Resident Evil - Failed.
And lets not forget the Super Mario movie, which was SEETHING with naffness. >.<;

It doesn't work because watching a film and playing a game are two completely different experiences. No matter how much the game producers try and emulate that 'film noir' style, they'll never bridge the gap. Unless Metal Gear Solid 2 counts (with its claim to fame of having more, longer video sequences than all of the actual gameplay.) Laughing

...

Oh, and -

11. Crappy, plot-driven teen romantic-comedies.

12. So called comedies that rely on bathroom humor enjoyed by thirteen year olds i.e. all three Austin Powers movies and Van Wylder.

The movie will have shots filmed from First Person view, though, complete with gun along the side of the screen... I don't know if that's cool or a pathetic hollywood attempt at being cool.

I enjoyed these three movies a lot. Especially Resident Evil. What again proves that I am still the last person on the planet that watches a movie to be entertained.

Pathetic, but still cool nonetheless!

you might want to know that radio show was based of the book and the new spilberg film is based of the book as well.

Some damn good movies (but some bad ones as well) have been made from books and real events, there's just the trend right now: comic books, video games and remakes that gets on my nerves.

Personally I say keep making em and I'll keep seeing em. I like seeing video game to movie adaptions if anything just to laugh a how poorly done they are (House of the Dead anyone?). I didn't care much for the first Resident Evil mainly because the only similarity between the movie and game were Umbrella and the zombies Rolling Eyes They did a really good job with the second one though. I also thought War of the Worlds was an awesome movie. . .you can't go wrong with Spielburg Razz What can I say I'm easily entertained. . .and it's only 8 bucks for 2 hours of entertainment

That's because it took place BEFORE the first game. That's one thing I liked most about it. It fit to the games because it explored something that was not shown in the games.

And that's the only complaint I have about the second Resident Evil movie. That one does not fit to the games.

Bruce Campbell.

You're thinking of Duke Nukem "Hail to the king baby"

As for all the complaints about movies that are based on books, comic books, games, etc. heres the problem, ALL Ideas have already been used, plus why bother gambling on an untested concept rather whn you can just make a movie that people will come and see because it's based on a succesful franchise.

By the way the best comic book to movie translation was Sin City

And by the way Rozy the Ring was based off of Ringu, a japanese movie, the manga was a way to advertise the movie, or at least that's my understanding.
