I know this fell off everybody's radar, but I just happened to think about this the other day and went over to the NTSB to see if they had anything on the Helios crash last year. They did:

The information seems to point at a cabin decompression similar to what this thread was about, but leaves unanswered many questions. There's a little more information at the Aviation Safety Network site, which seems to indicate that (as usual) multiple problems contributed to the loss of aircraft, crew, and passengers, including improper maintenance and improper diagnosis of the initial problem by the flight crew. Finally, there's a very detailed article at Search.com which supports and reinforces the statements and conclusions of the others. Sadly, it does indeed seem that relatively minor oversights and erroneous assumptions led to the crash.
