I am surprised no one has mentioned Second Life on the PF CGI forums. This online metaverse is the perfect place to play with a 3D world without breaking the bank. Inside the "game" you can build just about anything you can dream of and you can look like anyone or anything you can imagine. Great thing is you can build your 3D home, yacht, or spaceship and then invite your friends over to watch a video(Quicktime needed) inside the game.
I love doing the MST3000 thing to really bad movies.

TXGorilla and Maxx have even set up a Planetfurry hangout in the game for us PFers to get together in.

You can join Second Life for $9.95 one time fee for a basic lifetime account that allows you to build whatever you want in a sandbox but it won't be perminant plus you can make your avatar look however you like. You can build sets and take photographs of yourself and your creations and using motion capture you can even make movies. Perminence will cost a monthly fee but its reasonable.

The down side is you have to have broadband and a hefty computer to run it smoothly. This is the minimum needed but it is just that, minimum.

PC/Windows:

* Computer: Pentium III 800MHZ or higher, with 256MB RAM or more
* Operating System: OS: Windows XP (sp2) / 2000 (sp4)
* Video Card: nVidia Geforce 2 (32MB RAM) or higher, or ATI Radeon 8500 (32MB RAM) or higher
* Internet Connection: DSL, cable modem or LAN (256kbps downstream or higher)

Mac:

* Graphics Card: nVidia GeForce 2 (32MB RAM) or higher, or ATI Radeon 9000 (32 MB RAM) or higher.
* Computer: 1 GHZ G4 or better, 512 MB RAM
* OS: Mac OS 10.3.8 or higher
* Internet Connection: Broadband (DSL/Cable Modem/LAN)

Here is a pic I did using Second Life and a little photoshop. I am the robot, my ingame wife Pandia is the voluptious space kitty vampire on the right and a friend Sasha is in the black latex spacesuit.

The possibilities are endless really. Here is a link to a SL photo site.

I am setting up an SL photo site of pics I've taken, right now all I have is an adult page up. Yes, you can..ahem.. do that in the game *blush*

Here is the link to the game if you are interested. (this is a clean link)

Be sure to name your friend in the referal section if you do sign up if they are in the game already. TXGorilla Falcone and Maxx Mackenzie are good choices if you don't have one, they certainly could use the help to upkeep the Planetfurry hangout. They get a nice bit of game money if you refer one of them.

If you wanna use me as a referal, just use this http://secondlife.com/ss/?u=8639fd54d6afcdd0e446f8cd9e238c8f

Second Life is free to register a basic account from July 7 through July 13th. You will still need a credit card for age verification but it is free.
