I've seen a lot of pro-military furs here. How many are in the military? [any country][not just reserve]

[funny story]
I heard once that in britain during a census enough people regestered their religion as Jedi Knight so it is recognized by the government as a religion/race 0o;;

That was Australia I believe and it got so bad that the government had decided to give some kind of penalty for anyone who did it. And since I was in the U.S. Army I have to say the Army rocks!

I might be playing warhammer but I do not think very high of any army so I stay as far away from them as possible.

Retired Airforce!! Very Happy Speaking of the army Twisted Evil that reminds me of the time I marshalled in a 747 at Kawait International. A bunch of army folk where on it. An army Major came up and said "Sarg where do they got ya staying?" my reply "Sir I'm not at liberty to say." his reply"You'er staying at the @#$^%@# hotel behind you aren't ya, Damn I chose the wrong service!!" My reply with an ear to ear grin" Yes sir!"

Marines and Army God bless their hearts, they do have it the toughest.

I haven't served myself,

I came damned close to it though. I was in the Marines JROTC and wanted to join on September 12 of 2001. Mother pleaded with me to finish my eductation first.

I have family members that have served in the Marines and Navy. My grandfather served in WW II, My Second cousin The Navy in Gulf War, My Cousin in Afganistan in the Marines.

Served 15months in the RNoAF...

It was... fun...

Of course, what was most fun was when soldiers from other countries visited. (And they hadn't read up on uniforms and markings)
Imagine when the plane you're in is taxiing and you notice that the bloke out on the tarmac has a star on each shoulder...
Or coming to visit the building I worked in and see that not only was there one with 3(!) stars on each shoulders, but that he was busy making the coffee...
(*** = Captain in Norway, and certainly doesn't exclude him from coffee duty. I got off because I don't drink coffee)

Picked up a few souvenirs, too...
The ususal .5" and 20mm projectiles, a 40mm L70 brass casing(got rid of it) and the brake-chute for a F-5....
(It was ripped and torn, and had been discarded, so it was OK)

And yes, the local MP's were the biggest crooks in the camp.
(But in a friendly way)

I've never served directly myself, but I've ended up supporting the military with the products I've worked on/am working on (B-2, F-16, F-35, et al.).
