Well, I had a tiny but powerful scare last week!

Number 2 son Jeremy, known as "Xerxes-Rah" to those of you on Deviant Art, reported the main Foxx Den PC crashed! Seems he cleaned some spyware and a couple of trojans from the hard drive, then uninstalled AdAware 5 so he could install the newest version, and on reboot, Explorer.Exe did the now-famous "Illegal Operation" and the system wouldn't come up.

AND I couldn't make the PC boot from CD or Win98 Boot Diskette, so reinstalling the OS was not an option.

Thankfully, before panic set in, some 'net research found my solution, and now the PC is back up and running! Smile

So I can go back to work on The Story tomorrow!

And, it seems I'm also back to work -- I got a job! Smile

I'm a temp, and starting my 3rd week with Northrup-Grumman -- back in field service!!!

I can't get out of that no-how.

Oh well, money's good, so are the people. AND man alive, am I logging windshield time! I never drove this much for any other company I worked for! And just in time for the foul weather, whoop-ee-whoop.

BUT I'm working! Smile

And that's what's happening, so far.

CR

That's great to hear, Chris!! I spent enough time working for another branch of NGC that I think well of them - their people that I work with now are pretty good and sharp, too.

Here's hoping things keep going better for you.

Cheers,
Cateagle

And lets hope the increased road-time doesn't result in vehicle down-time due to car/deer collision-time.

Of course, if it's a company vehicle - to hell with the wheels. Just make sure you're 'buck'led up when the buck stops here - right in front of you. Razz

Good for you. The field service outfit I'm subcontracted to has very sporadic calls (been a couple months since the last one) for me in this area of Northern MN. BTW, I've had to drive over 200 miles one way to do one service call (a few times, a year ago, and some were repeats) Rolling Eyes . At least they paid me mileage for my car.

Glad to hear you got a good job. Maybe you can talk them into getting you a Stryker APC to drive to work. If you saw a deer just hit the gas. Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Glad to hear that things are finally looking good for you and your family.
Hope it stays like this for a while, maybe longer. Gee.. Do yourself a favor
and scrap windows, get Linux and StarOffice. It's free, it's stable and up to
40% faster than Bill's crud. Well of your selection of applications permits it,
then go fur it.

Thanks, me too!!

We got a couple inches at least yesterday, and as we speak now the sun is shining bright and nothing's coming down. And I have some serious driving to do tomorrow, all the way to Altoona, which for me is a HECK of a trip!! And here I thought I'd just be going to Erie and other points north of I-80 Smile

Heigh-ho, price of working.

NOW, everyone pray my van passes inspection!!!! It's up on the 31st!

Oh, you know it, man! I'm sick of driving on pins and needles.

Please, please tell me that PA got rid of that 55mph speed limit. I don't think I could handle being a company driver at half my normal speed.

Good to hear about the job, though. Hope [winter holiday of your choice] went well.
