yes i was thinking that....
now im not saying that anglo-american digging is bad (i mean i call you yanks and you call us limeys etc.. thats just mutal badges of honour )
but i feel that that stament (espesuly the GERRR bit) leaves me abit dissapointed, is that who you still preseve us British? because i find it very disrispectful if you do.
look its all very stupid but i think it must be said, if i started to post sterotypical things about amercians (which i know isnt true, meny of my friends are from across the pond... meny on this very forum) i know if i did they would be hurt.. and thats what typhun and i are... hurt.
ok ranting ended
just be mindfull
I am presuming you are american after all, to be honest i dont know... _________________ A Pro From Dover.

Once I vacationed in Jolly Ol' England and observed an actual hunt underway in the countryside close to the Welsh border.
Not knowing any better, I asked what was going on, and a young teenage boy in full foxhunt gear announced proudly that a chase was underway...and Today he was going to be blooded.
(apparently an initiation for children to have fox blood smeared on their faces )
I said" aw, kinda rough on the fox, huh?"
At which point the kid kicked me in the shins and told me to "Sod off"
(damn, riding boots hurt like a mutha.)
Then I was shoved from behind by an adult who said "be a good Yank and go back to the States."
Thus is my personal experience encountering British Culture in regards to the foxhunt.
I encountered the stereotype.
grrr. |

When the hell did you go sounds like the 1800's!!!!
well i can vouche for myself when i say this "WHAT THE HELL????"
you really got the routh end of the stick on that one, (being a suburban lad i have never seen a fox hunter so i dont know what insane stuff they do).
kinda reminds me of that film "Whicka man" (thats one scary film.. i mean they burn him alive)
i must say sorry, but also not all of us Brits are upper class twats that think like THAT!!!
well i know im not.
well i think i must conside defeat on this one (im one ashamed Limey) _________________ A Pro From Dover.

It's usually the bad apples that get the stereotypes going like that.
Funny thing though about our british cousins calling us yanks is that here in the us Yank usually means New Englander (At least where i've encountered it anyways). in other words I'll call some one from the northeast a yank because they're from that area. _________________ I'm a serial killer, it's a bad habbit.

For the record, I talked to UK people every day, and I have never once called one of them a "limey", although I've been called a "yank" a few times, and frankly, I found it more affectionate than insulting
I would probably find it insulting if I lived on the other side of the Mason-Dixon line, though; I wonder how Southerners feel about being called "yanks"?
Now, I have used the term "wanker" ... and will be much more mindful the next time I use it! Amazing, the proprietary words to a country and what they mean ..... |
