As a word of warning, political threads tend to get nasty in short order around here. You've got members from around the world, most with wildly differing viewpoints, and there's a few (*raises hand*) that flat refuse to back off from their position. Mods, keep this thread on a short leash.

Oh yeah. I voted "Bush", for obvious reasons.

I haven't even registered to vote yet.

I won't vote for bush. He's been okay in ways, but he's going to re-enact the draft, and men and women will be required to sign up at the age of 16 - 27

I'll give this thread 24 hours before it gets locked.
But just as warning to the newies, there are certain subject matters that are not discussed because of their volitile nature:
Politics,
Religion,
Historical Interpretation.

Personal Rant:
A vote for Bush is a vote for Kerry.
Plain and simple: They both went to Yale at the same time. They both attended the Skulls & Bones Club during the same years. They were good friends and frat buddies during their college years. They both share the same ideaologies...

Whether you vote for one or the other or Dont Vote At All, the outcome will remain the same.

So take it as a lesson in life- DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE OPENNING UP YOUR MOUTH AND SUBMITTING OPINIONS BASED FACTS.

I hope this has really openned up some eyes- voters and non-voters alike.

-End of Personal Rant.

Again... research the fact before submitting the opinions.
1) Who submitted the bill to congress? The president does not have that authorization.
2) Selective Service is ONLY for men between the ages of 18 -28.
3) The bill goes up for legislation in 2 years... how is Bush going to sign it into law if he's not the president then? You know something we dont?

Yes elfen, basically.

Voting is just to give us the illusion we can change the government. We can't, we lost that ability a *long* time ago.

Yes it's terrible but we can't change it. The people no longer run the government, the business and government runs the government.

Governments view: Leave it up to the people with money, stay out of it buddy, move along.

Lets not get this thread closed. I know how furres can get in a huge uproar about these things. I can just imagine a room full of furrys argueing, barking, quaking their 2 cents, chaos.

The power of the vote:
In previous years, both the state of California and Florida voted for Mickey Mouse in several key elections (through write in votes- a right you have as a voter when the candidate you want to vote for is not on the ballot machine).

Both states opted to put the second place winner into office, knowing that he/she lost to a cartoon mouse.

Oh elfen? Hmm, I read somewhere on the net about it [the draft re-enable]. Goes to show you internet isn't always reliable.

You're older than me and know more about politics, so I'll trust you know what you're doing.

I am not in to politics, they're the root of the devil!

[EDIT] The mickey mouse thing is funny, haha, wow.[/edit]

Mr. Green
A lesson I learned from Makio Kaku (Yes, that Dr. Kaku- I interned under him in college, and when he found out I was a premed student, he nearly had a heart attack...):

You can not rely on one source of information to base your knowedge on (in any field). You have to take from the extreme left, the extreme right, both the left and right, and from those who call themselves the middle. Then you have to factor out the common demoninators and boil down the common facts therein. Only then can you figure out what is truely going on.

If you don't, and only follow a few sources, you're no better off than sheep. At work, I'm known as "The Sheep Dawg".

ARF! ARF!! ARF!!!

Even if I was allowed to join into that vote, what I am not and I doubt I ever will be, I wouldn't vote.

Why not? Because I'm an ignorant idiot.
