How people with drawing skills do what they do will probably remain a mystery to me. Even more so when you add little things like 'oh, just doodling' and the like.
When I doodle I get 'connect the dots' without numbers.

d'awww Well thank you bud! Embarassed

Thing is, I was going to do a quick tutorial about how I draw my anthros. Might inspire a few furry artists out there to pick up their pencils and do some picshurs.

Two things are holding me back though.

First being, improving on your talents using a forum is ENTIRELY dependant on feedback. I'm worried that people will post their art, and attempts to follow the tutorial, and no one will bother to comment or give feedback on other people's. And even if they do give useful feedback, young artists often take criticism as some form of personal attack. Even I did, once. (And trust me, I've been through 4 years of art school. The term 'Spanish Inquisition' would be a dramatic understatement.)

Second, is that I'm worried people will shy away from tutorials all-together, maybe because they don't think their art is as good as the next guy's. It needs to be made very clear that the tutorial wont be a competition. It's more of a quest for improvement.

Maybe I'll start a tutorial thread later this week, as a bit of a test. Wink

Well, please do try?

It wouldn't be fair on my part to make any promises to follow up on it though. Family and work will claim me forthwith, respectively Smile and Sad + Smile

But, there is one character I can visualise and would like to draw. Maybe you can teach me a few things?
I'm not daft though: you were drawing before you went to study art for four years. I can just about hold a pencil... I would not presume to teach you quantum mechanics or biochemistry in a similar session. And, however much the subjects may seem to differ; you cannot replace four years of work at any subject with a list of tricks.

Note: I'm not trying to deter you. Although I hardly think that possible, why else have such a nice doggie as avatar? Wink

Sure thing. I'll get started on a tutorial project sometime this week

Until then, have a Steampunk comic! Very Happy

Here's a little picture of Scifer as a pup. Concepting a new cover for Silent Storm, and I'm trying to get his 'kid look' right.

He'd look much more terrified if he knew what I have planned for him in the story. >:3

His story starts off fairly Disney, but it turns and twists into something much more ... Blade Runner. ^^

Fairly Disney?

Lemme see, that would entail dancing flowers, loudly singing birds and and white gloves? Seems pretty mean to a little guy. Given his attire in the image, I'd imagine him not too afraid of BladeRunnery cities.

Hmmm, maybe more Beatrix Potter than Disney then. xD

Here's an experimental look for his father. Merticulo. Merty to those who know him.

I'm glad you left the 'doodle' remark out.
Looks like a cool guy. Warm heart inside, right?

Just wondering, those glasses... only for autumn sun?
Cool and collected people don't need glasses. At least not to appear cool, maybe for other reasons Wink

The part of the story he's in DOES take place at the start of Autumn, so yeah, that'll be my excuse. xD

Very hardened look about him. You can tell this guy has been around the block quite a few times.

Impressive work on the clothing and accessory detail. Smile

Here's a possible cover for one of my Silent Storm stories.

I was tech crewing at a local rock festival last night ... and I must have drank a LOT of jagermeister.

Drew this on the bar with my sharpie.

Possible concept cover for Silent Storm.

Used a mixture of real and digital media for this one.
