I have to color up a bunch of comics for a portfolio that Style Wager's going to be selling. Unfortunately, I've been really bad about doing it because they're black and white and I have serious problems working in b/w.
Next few weeks I'll be working on that so don't expect anything soon.
Cheers. _________________ Read my comic: http://www.ImperialGelf.com

It's been an interesting time.
Thursday I drove down to Emporia to pick up Maus Merryjest. Rather than having to rent a room down there, we figured it would be cheaper to pay for the gas for me to commute down (2 hr drive or there abouts) than for him to get a solo room. No big deal. I don't mind driving and it would be fun to have Maus around.
Yesterday we take off to head down to my ISP in Paola so I could pick up my new business cards, check and a new cell phone. Since I was going to be doing another long drive, I double checked the car, saw it was a little low on oil and antifreeze so topped both off and then swung over to the Phillips 66 for some gas. Tanked up then jumped on the road to head south. Got about fifteen or so miles down the road and the engine started sputtering, hesitating and throwing all kinds of fits.
I managed to limp into Louisburg where I started to make some calls. Couldn't get ahold of anyone for almost thirty minutes. Finally got ahold of Charlie Smith who agreed to come pick us up and drive us down to Emporia so Maus could do his recital for the contest. It was a close run, but we managed to get down there in time. Maus was scheduled for 5:15, but some people dropped out. He should have gone on at 4:45, but since we had a breakdown, the judges agreed to wait until we got there. Managed to arrive right at 5:15 and Maus rushed in.
His performance was pretty good, but was marred by someone's cell phone going off during the recital. Belonged to some young girl. Whats worse is that she didn't turn the damned thing off and it rang again a couple of minutes later. I wanted to walk down there, take it from her and smash it, but managed to resist.
Maus did a good performance, but didn't make it into the semi-finals, which is too bad.
Right now I'm just waiting for his voice instructor to come pick him up so they can head back to Denver.
John (the guy who owns the ISP in Paola) is going to see about getting my car worked on by some guy he knows. My brother suspects it's something in the fuel system, but who knows. We'll have to see what mechanic says.
And to think the weekend's only just starting. _________________ Read my comic: http://www.ImperialGelf.com

A clogged fuel filter could do that. Which I'm hopping that is cause that's a cheap item to replace compared to what else could go bad.
The next cheapest item is the fuel pump. easy test for that is turn off the radio in the car and turn the ignition to where you would have it when running the engine, you can hear the fuel pump work. If you don't then that's a good amount of money, from there you're looking at replacing all of the fuel lines and fuel filter, maybe even the pump.
That's asuming it's in the fuel system.
The other posibility would be ignition system failure.
Here's to hoping it's a clogged fuel filter.

Had a killer migraine today (Sunday) that just wouldn't let go no matter what I did. Spent most of the day in bed.
Did manage to get Chapter 16 back from the editor and posted it. Hope y'all enjoy it.

Whelp, I've spent some time thinking about the story and where it's going.
When I decided to do an Act IV, I only had about 3 or 4 highlights I wanted to hit. Everything else has just been fluff to hold your attention and waste story time while we get to that point.
In my musings of late, I've started fleshing out the actual happenings that will be going on, but I've run into a few bugs.
1) Magic - Yes, the mouse has magic as does Hecate. There are limitations to them and the classic "for every action there is an equal and opposite action" affects them. The mouse getting muddied was an example of it. That will show up more.
2) How to keep the characters from using magic? Magic's pretty handy, even if you do have to deal with backlash. There will be situations coming up where magic would make life too easy for the characters. Gotta watch that shit.
3) Anatol - MUCH more background coming for him, the likes of which will send folks foaming at the mouth.
4) Feds and the Mob. Yep, more to come there too.
5) Whatever happend to? Several of those characters you've been asking "What happened to..." will be answered.
More musing tonight when I go to bed about where to start off tomorrow. Hopefully will have a chapter for you Sunday.

Left KC about 1PM yesterday for my trip to Albq. I waited until 1 because the roomie was supposed to call me and tell me where to meet her and her parrents for lunch. Didn't happen, so I packed up the car, tanked up, did some deposits and got some cash from the bank.
The trip was pretty uneventful until I hit the New Mexico/Texas border. As soon as I crossed over, there was this little flurry of snow that lasted a mile or so. I'd heard of a storm that was supposed to move through and was hoping that mabye that was the ragged edge and I'd outrun it.
Fat chance.
About ten miles later, the snow started again. It was real light, fine snow. Looked like a fog for the most part, though you could barely make out individual flakes as they flashed by. Pretty soon it started getting heavier and heavier until visibility was down to under a hundred yards and everyone had slowed WAY down.
At this point, the snow was just blowing across the road. It wasn't sticking or melting, so traction was fine, it was just that visibility sucked. A little further down the road, the snow turned into almost total whiteout.
After driving a while at about 50 in the middle of this long truck line (listening to them chat on the CB), we came to Tucumcari(sp?). I debated getting off the highway and crashing for the night, but the truckers were talking about the odds of them closing the road that evening, so I decided to go for it. I had five one liter bottles of Mt. Dew and was ready for a LONG drive.
I was mistaken.
About the time we got to Santa Rosa, that nice snow which had just been skittering across the highway had started to melt under the tires of the trucks and freeze. This left me driving over snow that was covering ice with a strong cross-wind. At this point, most of the truckers jumped off the highway. I didn't.
To get to Albq from KC takes about 12 to 13 hours. I can often make it in 10-11 hours depending on traffic. This time it took almost 16 hours, the last five of which were driven at an average of 35-40 miles an hour. It was a serious relief to actually get to the outskirts of Alb. The mountains shield the city so it rarely snows and the roads were totally clear. Within a stretch of a mile, I'd gone from playing slip & slide on the ice to hauling ass at 80 Mph down a winding, curving mountain road that was totally free of snow, ice or anything else unwanted.
Needless to say, it wasn't one of my favorite trips, however it will be memorable.
Have a happy and safe holidays!
