Anyway, to bring this thread somewhere closer to its origins, I bring you...

Eye of the tiger!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRX5pOlptF0&feature=related
That same F-5 was for sale earlier...
(I'm not certain about status now. You need to be a military power of good standing with both Norway and USA to buy, though, as it's still fully functional weapons-wise)

The last Starfighter:

Not the old sci-fi movie, but the last flight of the F-104 in Norway.

Now to derail everything...
(The first cut was compared to a cross of Dealiest catch and Village People... )

Ah, the smell of JP-4 in the air! The F-% video was a great look at the Northrop lines. Stripes One looks a lot like an F-5 with a tandem cockpit instead of the single, but the sound! That's exactly what Stripes' roar sounds like. Thanks, Anthony.

I personally never got to experience the -5 or the F-104 take off whileI served, but I was regulary eposed to pairs of F-16s taking off under full afterburner...
(Let's just say that even with a berm and thick concrete walls between us and the runway, we never let our ear protection out of sight)

The F-104 sounds AWESOME! The F-16 is annoying...

These videos do not do the sound justice!

I had the honor of seeing one of these puppies 'up close and personal' a few years ago at an air show...

Listening to them prep for take-off is quite awe inspiring, as is when they do a fly-by. The way the rumble of the jets echoes... >.>

I once had an opportunity to watch an F-104 depart Mojave Airport years ago. The sound it made had the same soul-rattling effect on me that those 4400 HP prime movers on the railroad did ... it just sort of reaches into your chest and grabs you by the spine and shakes you around a bit until you're all out of breath.

There's really nothing else like it in the world.

Gently shakes the tree. Is there a tiger up there?

*Gives a loud growl as he drops the 16 balls RL had him juggling because somebody shook the darn tree!*

Still here, still busy, but I do check in to see what everyone is up to.

*grumbles as he climbs down to pick up the 16 balls and starts juggling them again as he makes his way back up te tree.*

I've seen a lot in Japan. But a 16 ball juggling tree climbing Siberian tiger wasn't one of them, A lion yes. But not a Tiger Razz

Here's hoping that things smooth out enough for a lot of good writing to happen. ^_^

Chapter 59 of Fire On High is now posted!

I'll try not to let the hiatus go so long next time. For now, 16 balls and back into th' darn tree!

Gee, I missed it by an hour (or so) when rereading...

Wonder how many 'pink' poodle-cut (terriers?) are around...
[Hmmm, most security footage is in black and white, who sprang for the color?]

As for Alex and Corrie - crap-apples? sour apples?

I would expect that in a society where fur coloration is so diverse, colour cameras would be more common?

"I'm sorry, your Honour, but the footage clearly shows a gray fox, and as you can see, my client has red fur."
How do you see the difference between a gray and red fox on a B/W recording? Not easily...

These days, only an idiot would set up B/W cameras.
(I've been involved in setting up some Axis cameras and systems lately. Crisp pictures, solid-state Pan/Tilt/Zoom cameras, two-way comms, footage stored on HDDs, all the goodies... )

An idiot, or someone who wanted to spend the absolute minimum they could.
