Chapter 5 is now up on my webpage. Hope y'all enjoy it!

Edit: I almost forgot - there's a subtle cameo in this chapter. A virtual cup of coffee to the first one to spot it and identify the fur.

Chapter 6 is up now on my webpage, and coming soon to The Raccoon's Bookshelf.

Thus far, no one has identified the cameo from chapter 5.

Goody! Smile

Poor Clarence. Doesn't seem to have a head for heights.

Rereading 5, I couldn't pick out who the cameo was vs regular characters (does cameo imply "known from elsewhere" or just a short appearance? In my experience, cameos are usually by famous people).

I used the term "cameo" rather loosely in my earlier posts - perhaps "reference" would be a better term in this instance.

Well there are a couple of things in chapter 5.

If you simply refer to it then Furry Potter or in our world Harry Potter.

Now more of a cameo then it could be Jake Mackelroy from Galdrion's The Mackelroy Chronicles.

I wasn't referring to either of those. As I said, strictly speaking it isn't a real cameo, more of a second-hand reference. And it is to someone in furry fandom.

All I can think of would be the snow leopard that Lisa mentions. No clue who that would be though.

Great story, mwalimu. I'm enjoying seeing Clarence finally have to confront the whole Wanda issue.

You are correct about the snow leopard.

I don't really know how long Chris had planned to draw out the tension between Clarence and Wanda, or if/how he planned to ultimately resolve it, but I hope he likes the treatment I'm giving it.

Well, there's no reason you can't draw it out longer or resolve it sooner than any other author. We realize that unless otherwise stated, different authors' stories aren't canon to each other. Though some might blow others out of the water by sheer mass. Wink

Chapter 7 is now up on the Raccoon's Bookshelf. I'll get my website updated sometime this weekend.

Edit: It is now also available on my website.

Cool, mwalimu! Nice look into Clarence's past. Would you believe that the high-school rejection scene is not that uncommon? I had something similar myself.

I think that's a big reason why the 'nerdy' types are so scared of girls--we're scared of getting rejected, of getting humiliated. Precisely what happened here. Poor Clarence! It's experiences like these that tend to make deep emotional scars. Sad

I don't recall having any single experience that had me quite such an awkward or degrading position as in Clarence's - maybe several lesser ones that would add up to a scene like that. My worst memories tended to involve getting bullied by other guys.

I do recall one girl, however, who showed interest me, but she came across a bit too similar to some other girls I knew who were the teasing/annoying type and it wasn't until about a year later that my hormones fully kicked in. Now when I think about it I kick myself for being too dense to recognize that this girl was really attracted to me. And to think she later became a cheerleader! Embarassed
