|
|
Email Services, including POP3, IMAP, SMTP, and Webmail will be unavailable for the next couple of hours as we work on patching one of the applications that it uses. The downtime will start at approximately 1:00 or 1:15am, 6/14/03, and will be down until the upgrade is finished. Once it's back up I will announce it here.

Email services are back online. If you have any problems with sending or receiving email, or not being able to connect to the server, please let me know.
Please note that this upgrade affected Virus and Spam scanning abilities. Messages and notations placed in emails that are infected or spam will be changed from their defaults to reflect Planetfurry policies and services soon. |

Okay... I thought everything was okay. Seems a good percentage of messages were getting blocked unintentionally. The issue seems to be resolved now, and the system is scanning incoming and outgoing messages for viruses and spam now. |

I'm a little concerned... I can receive mail, but can't send.
What are the recommended settings, in terms of server names and security? |

POP/IMAP: mail.planetfurry.com
SMTP: mail.planetfurry.com
Username: [email protected] (or yourusername#planetfurry.com in case that doesn't work)
Remember to enable SMTP Authentication for outgoing messages. |

I still can't get it to work. SMTP is configured correctly,
I used smtp.planetfurry.com, mail. Planetfurry.com,
and checked my network settings at home, and still I can't
contact the SMTP server. I've pinged the server and found it,
but MS Outlook can’t find it. What the heck could the
problem possibly be? |

The SMTP server is not smtp.planetfurry.com. It is mail.planetfurry.com.
Which version of Outlook are you using? MS changed how you can modify login settings each time they released a new version...
Try to find something concerning SMTP Authentication, or Outgoing mail requires login, etc. The SMTP server requires the same login as the POP3/IMAP server, so don't forget to tag on the @planetfurry.com or #planetfurry.com after your username. |
