If you go to the future then time travel to the past and keep you from going to the future did you really go to the past? The only reason I ask this cause if stop from going to the future did you go back to stop from going to the future? Confused
I you go back in time and sleep with ur grandmother with out knowing it and kill your grandfather should you exist? If you did you would be ur father's father and ur own grandfather?

That only happens if Time allows it. I doubt Time would allow for an incestuous relationship to happen...

Read Hitchiker's guide to the galaxy, and the rest of the trilogy (there are five books total in it). Stuff like that (the granfather thing) is nothing several sessions with a good councelor can't solve.

As for stopping yourself from time traveling, this is where either a)paradox steps in and plays "drunken fratboy" to you're existance's "ugly girl home alone on prom night" and things get "messy" or b)alternate timelines start popping up where parralell realities splinter off in different directions to cover all the various possible combinations of you traveling back, forwards, and sideways through time and accosting (and/or not accosting) yourself.

I maybe be confusing shows here, but I remember a SeaQuest (or some other fairly recent SciFi TV show involving a submarine) where one of the characters had to dive into an ultradeep underwater fissure. The story entailed 4 diiferent versions of the same time travel event caused by the diver entering the fissure, where the traveller was aware of the events splintering off into so many directions and had to make them diverge back into 1 time-line event, they had to rejoin again at the fissure.

One of the arguements in the story was "which timeline should they follow?" (Subsequently one of the travellers was killed off to prevent the fussion of the timeline).

Eventually, in the end- the 3 remaining travellers rejoined into 1, and following events, well, according to the bad writing of the script and the ill explaination of the physics involved, averaged themselves out, though the story made it seem like he was sucessful in joining the timelines.
