Hah... Figure it would be a fine time to explain how I whittle away my time. (Other than my full time "day" job)

My wife and I decided in 2010 that we would start a farm. Having little money after purchasing our home (technically the bank still owns it, hah) we got into the poor mans livestock - Rabbits.
She started with showing them (not unlike a dog show) and tried for a year to get me interested. Naturally she finally figured out my weakness... My stomach. She said I could eat the ones that didn't meet the standard. So that's how I started producing rabbit for consumption.
Fast forward 4 years... To today.
We finally saved enough money to get started on another species... We chose sheep since they are usually considered a good beginner large livestock. So naturally we needed something to guard them. The llamas come Tuesday haha. Seriously... I laughed when my wife said llamas make great guard animals for sheep. Plus llama is fun to say.
So now we are in the process of getting ready for them to be delivered at the end of November. The fence line is planned out and we will be breaking ground tomorrow afternoon. We bought a boat load of hay today (I also got a crash course in haying a field), a few bales of which somehow managed to jump ship and are probably sitting on the side of the highway.

We're freaking excited. Self sufficiency has been our goal for a while now. Next year we will attempt a garden. Although we seem to kill anything we plant.
Hopefully in a few years we can stop running in the red and make it to black... Then maybe green hopefully.

Ah well, maybe next time...

Finally finished the first part of my 1500'+ fencing project. Sorry for the crappy low light... It was getting pretty late.

The llamas are pleased.
