Here we are at Chapter 40, a twelve year journey for this tome. The hunt is on for documents, one misplaced retired arbiter and a bit of normalcy for Jeffrey and Na'Krista. Her mother becomes further involved with the situation while Sa'Zarren tries to keep the damper on Dassan. And we learn more about the background of the Keth'lans of Kas'Madelle.

Ah, the 'games people play' ...
As for our flyers, sometimes reconditioned craft work better than the originals and sometimes (well that was a story told, wasn't it) ...

Well, we all hope things are falling into place for our unlucky newlyweds but you know how that goes.

It's always nice to have options, better when there's a good one among them ...
What's with dragging another age-old law out of the dust-bin (even if helpful) ... |

Well, all the young'uns have been in the Law Library, trying to dig up that darned paperwork.
Laws are very important to the Elazi race but they don't obsess over it. Laws were how they made it through "The Awakening" and became a civilized race. Elders, especially elder arbiters are honored and respected. Mostly because they helped to write many of the laws that make Elazia a civilized world. _________________ "Старый боевой конь, Кeллан" |

Well, Dassan is now gone from the mortal plane and I know you're probably thinking, this is a good thing. However, this mystery femme is now in the mix, the one that was the end to Saar Trent'lan's life. There are a number of questions that need to be answered and things just might hit a bump in the road or two.
Without further delays from my ramblings, Here is Chapter 43 of "Scribe"
Enjoy!

I missed one, how did ...
Oh well, it looks like Dassan's terminal but not debilitated though it looks like he's going to miss the third Serenity (the wisdom to know the difference).
Ah proof is found ...
Hmmm, seems the Elazi afterlife has a two-way portal (with revisionist mode) and more proof that regardless on what happens, like goes on ...
Ahhh, the usual (or unusual) cliffhanger ... |

Well, it would seem Jeff has a problem, a very serious one indeed. Will his One Love make it in time to help protect him? We shall see.

Now who would be taking pot shots at an old fighter ??
Or is this one of those Kirk/Khan moments (or will become one) ??
Hmmm, long range strike or stealth tech ??
There's a 'villey'/'volley' typo in there ... |

Well, it would seem we have finally made it to the conclusion of our story with the posting of chapters 45 & 46. We find out who was taking pot shots, why they did it and a very startling revelation is made.
Chapter 45 of "Scribe"
Chapter 46 of "Scribe"
Do not fear, the Old Warhorse is not through writing - look for "Rift" to start posting sometime in the late Spring 2021. This will be a continuation of "Scribe" with a familiar feel and maybe somebody we might know from somewhere else.
thanks for staying with this story. _________________ "Старый боевой конь, Кeллан" |

Hmmm, stealth for three of four freqs, not bad ...
Too bad Jeff got caught in the 'AW' cycle as he had a chance to ask someone to go visit and give someone else a needed wake-up call ...
Considering things, wonder if there were any other 'early' internments ... or if anyone would actually record such event in their personal archive ...
And the epilogue, a very natural consequence (with maybe some genetic engineering), offspring. Nice to see a 'traditional' terran female looking at a dye job, just for a different look. Learners permits and licenses for teens.
Most of all - family! |

Early on before Jeff first met Na'Krista, he was assisting an Elazi doctor with foot fungus. It had come up during that meeting, humans were so close to Elazi genetics-wise, the Elazi doctor didn't know why we didn't have pelts and tails. Well, Denise and Jay are proof they are 'very close' genetically. No engineering was involved with their conceptions. that comes out in "Rift" when it starts posting.
By the way, thanks for reading and commenting. I genuinely appreciated you input. _________________ "Старый боевой конь, Кeллан" |

OK, There is a possibility of finding a close genetic cousin close enough not to need a little tinkering (think wolves and dogs, their close to the separation point that only one or two breeds of hybrids can [still] have pups without aid)
BTW, IIRC humans still have a pelt gene, it's just turned off, there IS a term for when it turns on (just can't think of it out the top of my head) ... |
