*typing one-handed*
I had surgery on my right pinky this morning, due to a pair of cysts that needed removal. If I seem absent around here for a few days, this is the reason why.

If you can still grip a stick shift and / or a beer, you're not doing too badly. Hope you heal quickly and completely.

Update:
My finger didn't do much bleeding and the pain level is pretty minimal, too. I flexed it a small amount last eve when we re-bandaged it and to my amazement it didn't hurt much.
@SC; I still have 2 1/2 fingers on that hand, since the ring finger is wrapped to the pinky to lend support. I have a glass mug with a handle that holds Single Malt Whiskey (Bowmore Islay 12 Yr Old) just fine. My War Wagon is an automatic so I'm good there, too. Work van is an auto too. I think I'll be good to go to work tomorrow. Maybe.

Okay, so I said previously that I was good to go work today. Spoke too soon.
I didn't anticipate the fact I would not be able to keep that hand elevated so I've been enjoying the post-operative finger throbbing all day long. Not fun.
Off to take some pain meds and lay down. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

Well, I was re-wrapping my finger (dirty bandages) when I decided to try out my Motorola Droid 2 Global's video capability. Vid may not be for the squeamish.

Hmm, not having seen it immediately post-op, it looks like the bruising is not as bad as I'd expect. You're healing well.

What's with all the ink? Looks like you were writing a phone number on your finger for later recall when you got a little militaristic with the pen ...
All kidding aside, looks like you're recovering. You'll know when you're really done when you can throw an effective "fickle finger of fate" without wincing. Or smack some fur in the muzzle without doing yourself more damage than them.
Be careful on the job. I returned to work too quickly after my little experiment and am paying the price for it. Slow and easy, see ... that's they way to do it.

Hmm, can't believe that a Silver 'Yote just asked if an Old Warhorse wants to get back under saddle again...but then again, it has happened before so... |

The realities of life, my friend, sometimes dictate that an alpha do what's best for the pack instead of what's best for himself. I know that Kel has some folks who depend on him, and am sure that motivates him to want to hurry things up some times. I'm the same way. Sadly, nobody is silly enough or rich enough to pay either of us to stay home and write our stories.
Not yet, anyway ... <winks>
On the other paw ... or hoof, as the case may be ... some of us need the income to support the various toys we have accumulated, be they beasts or warwagons. I can respect that too. It's difficult to keep our gluttonous machines fully operational without regular infusions of cash. I am very familiar with this shared affliction as well.
So yeah, if Kel wants to take a poke at me for suggesting he get back under the saddle, my only real hope is that he blocks with his right and swings with a left!

Well SC, that scribbling on my digit was the doctor's doings.
He circled the cysts in pre-op to be sure of where he was going to be slicing and then he wrote 'yes' on the tip of the finger. The other marks were done in the operating theater. I wouldn't know for sure, though, since I was out like a light when the anesthesiologist hit me with something that was supposed to 'just relax me'. Relax me my arse!! I was out in seconds!! I don't remember a fracking thing after he said, "This will make you feel warm and fuzzy all over."
The finger is healing well, although I finally felt the nerve ending's retaliations this evening when I bumped it on an item in the refrigerator. Can you say, "@*#&^%!!!"?
I will get the stitches out Wednesday afternoon but until then I will have a foam-lined aluminum guard on it. Just in case.
Takin' it easy,
Kellan, the recovering old warhorse. _________________ "Старый боевой конь, Кeллан" |
