I'm going to the Gaming Day in Vienna at the beginning of May
Those of you familiar with Games Workshop will know the Games Days they hold every now and then. They are like conventions held by Games Workshop. The Gaming Day Vienna is a 'small' Games Day. Games Workshop is only just starting to expand into Austria and so they are making small for now.
And to explain why I am going all the way to Vienna and not just go to the German Games Day, well, my parents are going to visit our relatives in Austria around that time anyway, I just tag along _________________ Tygon Panthera - name and species

Alrighty! Finally the first of my new Tyranids is done. Photos of my new Hive Tyrant are attached. This awesome model had the honor to field test my new painting sceme/technique. To improve the overall look I have decided paint my Tyranid's armor black and it does look much better. Also I am now using some mor sophisticated painting techniques. I started out with priming the Tyrant with white spray color and then applied a wash of red ink mixed with Scab Red. Over that I drybrushed with Blood Red. Nice, instant shading effect The claws are done the same way with brown ink and Bleached Bone. The armor is painted Chaos Black and then highlighted (also a new technique for me) with three layer of Chaos Black/Bleached Bone mix, each a bit lighter than the previous. I really like the final result.
I also got a chance to try it out today in two small games and it's just as tough as the old one, if not tougher. Toxic Miasm (not sure if that is the actual english name) is a nice alternative to adrenalin glands. of course, it was kinda unused to my Tyrant moving so slow (have only used winged ones so far) but the massive venom cannon makes up for that. Over the two games it killed 5 Space Marines, 2 Scouts and 2 Terminators as well as a single Dreadnought.
All in all I am very happy with the mini. At first I was not so sure about it because of the Bonesword/Lash-Whip combination it comes with. That reminds me far too much of the second edition Hive Tyrant, which I do not like at all. However, with Scything Talons like I build it I think it looks great.
Well, that is the first of the new Tyranids that I have finished. Three Raveners, a Lictor, 21 Genestealers and a Carnifex are waiting to be painted as well. Man, I better get started _________________ Tygon Panthera - name and species

Again I had 2 Warhammer 40K League games today... and again I won the first and lost the second... Would rather have it the other way around
Anyway, at least I got my first victory against Chaos Space Marines, and against the Death Guard too!
Here is a pic of my Tyrant in battle with the enemy's General. Sorry about the bad quality, we had to take the pic with a cell phone. Some of you might recongnize the Death Guard Terminator as Typhus, but it was just the mini, not the character. Still, an interesting game. _________________ Tygon Panthera - name and species

Hey Ty, congrats on the win. That Tyrant is looking good as well. It also looks as though I shall be joining the Hive Mind....I took a look at the new 'Nid codex and started drooling over the Carnifex rules...

YESSSSSSS! All shall be part of the Great Devourer!!!
But seriously, the new Carnifex rocks! The model and the rules as well. That one alone is worth starting a Tyranid Army. I already have one BTW, just got to paint it _________________ Tygon Panthera - name and species

*snickers*
*whistles*
Let me see...
My IG Armored Company, the Lenasian 215th...
1 Hydra (conv)
1 Bombard (not assembled yet, alas)
1 Basilisk
1 Griffon (conv)
1 Demolisher
4 Leman Russ
2 Exterminators
1 Executioner (conv)
1 Conquorer (conv)
1 Vanquisher
1 Destroyer
2 Earthshaker Platforms
1 Trojan Hauler (conv)
2 Powerlifter Sentinels (conv)
1 Hellhound
6 normal Sentinels
1 Cyclops Demolition Vehicle w/transport truck (conv)
Grand Total, WELL over 3,000 points, last time I bothered to check, and that's just the vehicles - I usually make a second force deployment chart of my Ratachan Traitor Guard in addition (5 more vehicles and 100+ infantry).
Grand Total: I don't know and am scared to find out, since while the armor is painted, the infantry is NOT. |

Well, I made some rough calculation and 4500 points should include
At least 2 Hive Tyrants (one of them winged
1 Broodlord (maybe 2) with 9 Genestealers (each)
18 Warriors
3 Lictors
24 Genestealers
over 120 Hormagaunts
64 or more various Gaunts
12 Raveners
a few swarms of Spore Mines
3 Zoanthrophes
3 Biovores
at least 2 Carnifexes
Yes, I got a long way to go... but man, am I looking forward to get there _________________ Tygon Panthera - name and species

Ahh, you're going for the Hoard Army style....I think my IG could deal with that...maybe....possibly...on a really rather good day...eek!
Personally, I'm going to do the Big Stompy Army. As many Carnifexes as I can squeeze in. So far, my tentative 2k list has 6 of them, on of them tanking in at 260 points. And there isn't a single ranged weapon in the entire list. This is a major jump for somebody who normally runs Marines and IG with as many guns as I can get my hands on.
