Read all of both the Mercy Thompson and Alpha & Omega series. A bit disappointed in Bones Crossed, and still waiting for Silver Borne to come out in paperback.

Yes Bone Crossed was a bit disappointing but when you read Silver Borne it will be better
I wait at the moment for River Marked

Has anybody here read War & Peace? I was considering sitting down with a Russian edition of it, but before doing so, I wanted to know if it's one of those classics because Literary Arts scholars say it's a classic or whether it's actually a worthwhile read.

I've never made it all of the way through but I will say that it is epic. If you love a good war story or a good introspective drama. It's about the best you'll find. The big draw backs are:
1. It's Epic...HUGE! The abridged version is still thicker than most phone books. The fully unabridged and annotated copy is thick enough that requires (I repeat REQUIRES) a second volume. Not something that you want to snag for a bit of light reading.
2. It dry. The story does not exactly travel at the fastest pace at it's quickest. It gets slower during the philisophical introspective peices.

In short, it's a great book but, there's a reason most bibliophiles consider reading it a milestone in one's literary carreer. It's the mt. Everest of classic lit.

Why would I do that? I've read the whole series twice. If you haven't read the last one, all I'll say is you'll like it.

I'm currently enjoying a Mode series by Piers Anthony. It's a rather entertaining set of books.

"A Painted House" was pretty good, though the ending seemed a bit abrupt.

Now I'm well into "The Summons" by John Grisham

reading Lex Frisionum, the Frisian law 600 to 900 AD.
The Lex Frisionum is the Frisian book of law. It was recorded about 12 centuries ago, during the reign of Charlemagne.
And it has some great stuff in it. Laughing
