Not too bad chapters. One thing that sticks out to me though is that these almost feel that they should have been the true ending to Lieutenant.

For the future of the project David has been placed in charge of I wonder if they will be allowing rabbits to join. It seems like they did a great job at Zombie and could add something of a force multiplier. Although since this is going to be happening on Marcus it might just be done on the sly anyway.

'Dick and Jane' ?
Wikipedia mentions this is 1930-1970 stuff. I wouldn't have expected that sort of booklets to survive this long. Any reason why this material wouldn't be used today?

By the way, if we're going to see a space version of sea fencibles including a clear reference to Napoleontic times I certainly hope it will do the Rabbit-Royals more good than it did England at the time.

tjin-- the phrase "Dick and Jane books" has become an expression that refers collectively to all reading primers in general, because they were once so common. So, it's a figure of speech. An example-- "Little Johnny had moved well beyond Dick and Jane books, though he wasn't ready for Shakespeare yet."

The Fencibles did little IRL because a) Napoleon never came, and b) from what I gather they dragged on for years beyond their true usefulness as a political boondoggle. There were also Fencibles in the USA for a time, though I don't think they were extant during any actual war.

Thanks for reading!

I like how David is treated after his Trial.
A second sword, landowner and builder of a new division.
Great work Rabbit

So, they have gotten back to Marcus and have found it has been laid to waste. After thier initial rush to get thier beginning ships I would think they might work on putting together thier own design. They could then perhaps sell this design to a number of ship builders.

Are warp points pretty much static or can people come in and out at any point in a system?

I picture the points as being in orbit, so their relationship to the planets isn't fixed. Also, some have "special" characteristics, which are to a slight degree explored in this work. I developed the system for another space-war series, because I like what it does in terms of naval strategy and tactics. Fixed nodes and high-traffic-points are sort of essential to a coherent naval strategy-- on Earth, sea battles have almost always taken place at key "choke-points" like the entrance to the English Channel, the Baltic, the Mediterranean, and other straits and such. This is no coincidence, and is something I'm actively attempting to replicate.

I'd thought David would seek out his love, Frieda. And I wondered what would have happened to her.
That he doesn't find her there anymore was maybe to be expected but...
the idea of a David-like Rabbit 'stranded' somewhere in the Empire?
That could turn out to be very interesting!

He will, just not right now...

[Of course, Rabbit could go the Casablanca route...or maybe Carrotblanca...]

Ha! If this won't lead to an interesting space battle, I don't know what will (in the hands of Rabbit, that is Razz )

A bit puzzling that all the brass that has so far been collected around David seems to accept his position more and more. Are they getting used to the idea?

Gotta lay a better foundation for that...

Anyway, it's time for those seconds to should what they CAN do while the boss is out getting his head handed to him (or handing their heads back to the opposition!)
