I got an email supposedly from PayPal stating that my account may have been accessed by a 3rd party and that my account has been placed on limited access and tells me to log in and give my full credit card or checking account number. The email itself has no links but when I manually type in Paypal's url and log in it asks me to provide either my credit card or checking account number, This makes me very nervous. Any ideas?

Look up their phone number on their website and call them to be sure.

You can't be too sure, even if you log in to the official site. To paraphrase Admiral Ackbar, it could be a trap.

I would consider closing that account and maybe opening a new one if you can....But trying to call them first is a good idea as well

Ok, problem solved. Turns out it was real I called them verified some stuff without giving account numbers so everything is cool.

I guess if the email has no links it's real, I'm just glade they let you call in to get it cleared without giving account numbers.

Go directly to the paypal site by hand (not the URL they give you) and check your account for notifications there.

Or if you want to be amused, click on their link and look closely at the name. You'll see that it's a phishing site.
