Probably we won't see this in the market sometime soon, and I am sure many companies will try their darnedest to block it (and I hope its quality is better than many of the "Ipods" and "Game Boys" I've seen made in Taiwan and HK), but this is awesome:

It may not have the power of a Palm or a BlackBerry, but something that lets you access the web and write documents for that cheap has great potential. As long as it's not "disposable cheap". _________________ Hey, Sony... IT'S PAYBACK TIME!

For that kind of money... you need to produce huge masses of this thing.
I imagine it's getting pretty close to the material costs!
Still, it sounds interesting and might be possible because a small portion of India's billion people still is 'huge masses'... |

I'm with you on the quality point. I've been burned before on cheap electronics that didn't perform as well as expected and/or broke easily. Most recently with a Wii remote. I didn't want to pay $40 for an official one from Nintendo so I went with a cheaper Nyko one. It works but it's really flaky at times which has led to some frustration. |
