Germany 0 - Serbia 1
Slovenia 2 - USA 2
(the 3rd goal should have counted and would have lead to a USA win in the closing minutes)
England 0 - Algeria 0
(England had many scoring opportunities but failed to convert)

Germany and England have fallen today... Looks like this World Cup could turn into Euro '92! Denmark won that one!

North Korea got slaughtered, even though it was 1-0 at half-time.

What I think what some major football nation countries need to do in Europe is go to their respected college teams and scout for the best talent, have then sign a binding contract with decent governmental employment wage to play football only for the national team and have them play together until the contract is up. Or you get the result of the France team this year in the world cup, A bunch of overpaid players that only think of themselves and not of the team.

I know America have a system like that with the college teams or something like that. I know in my school we've got a goalkeeper who I rate as the next Pepe Reina and he's got Autism so he's in the Paralympic squad for England, but he's good enough for the proper team! There are a few others in my school, including myself, who could make it into the Paralympic squad and even the proper team! Even though I can play for Mauritius!

Well, I suppose this happens every now and then. Put those french primadonna's together and this is what you get.
Frankly, I find it a disgrace that these guys can't manage to represent their country in a fit, sportive way. Bah, reminds me of the dutch team in '90.

I sort of hope the world cup will now continue in a more upbeat spirit.

Is there a branch of sport in the USA that follows this mode? In the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium I know for a fact that there is no such thing as a 'college' team (or other schoolteam). Universities in these countries don't have teams (to speak of) either. Football is more or less a separate branch of society, unbound by schools or other social barriers (as far as I'm aware).
For social barriers here I mean lower and middle class.

Sparky, I used to play football (long time ago) and our topscorer was (in hindsight) a classic autist who needed a lot of explanation (don't expect a tenyear old to be lenient on an autist...). In football, the required interpersonal skills and facial-expressions-reading apparently are less than in the rest of society.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MLS_SuperDraft - Freddy Adu made it onto the stage via this

In my school, we've got Autism left right and center but yet it's a good place to be and most of the footballers there have Aspergers can could probably cope in mainstream, like I've done for 10-12 years.
