Upcoming film by LionsGate and Mumbai-based Crest Studios. CGI.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_and_Omega_%28film%29
The omega wolf of a pack falls for the alpha female. They unwillingly get relocated in order to repopulate another part of the continent. Hijinx ensue.
Directed by the same guy from Fox and The Hound. Doesn't seem to be relying on star power. Hopefully it won't have to compete against Toy Story 3, or these wuffies will be roadkill.
Underrated sleeper film, or "me-too" CGI summer-fall filler? (Given it seems to rely on toilet humor and americanisms, I feel the latter.)
Thanks for your time. Meanwhile, speak softly and carry a big stick. _________________ Hey, Sony... IT'S PAYBACK TIME!

Could have potential. Although I tend to get very sceptical when the words 'Hijinx ensue' are part of the plot directive. xD
Another upcoming CG film that caught my eye is the one with the owls. Legend of the Guardians.
It's very hard to tell if a CG animated film will be any good or not, just by looking at the trailer. What I try to do is look for the same character showing off a range of different emotions; that way, one can tell if the story is character-driven (Toy Story) rather than plot-driven (Avatar).
So, speak softly, and carry a sharp beak. :> _________________ -=Scifer. Badgerfox.

Avatar plot-driven? Monsieur Le Scifer, c'est ne pas possible!
More like Plot AND SFX/CGI-driven, IMHO. _________________ Hey, Sony... IT'S PAYBACK TIME!

Color me blue, but what is 'Hijinx'? The 'urban dictionary' suggests it's joke.
Really? |

Hijinx refers to comical misadventures, the likes of Tom and Jerry or Bugs Bunny and Daffy or Elmer Fudd.

I always fear such teasers contain all the pieces of movie that are worth watching. But maybe I've grown too distrusting of 'hollywood'.
I think, with the right expectations, this should be a decent movie. |

I hate to say it, but Alpha and Omega looks really terrible. And believe me, I don't want it to be terrible, I want it to be great. But yeah, low budget, toilet humor, basically the same story that's been told already over and over again in other movies. More low rent slapstick than anything else.
But, I'll still probably see it anyway, though I might wait for it to come out on dvd. And I'm sure that won't take long after it's released. _________________ Changed my name to Kantaro. |

What if someone decided to collect all slapstick of the entire movie in that leader? Someone who thinks that such themes must sell the movie because of being incapable of seeing through animation.
Could be crap of course. Won't know 'till we see it If the US thinks it's crap we won't get in EU theaters at all |

Yeah, the trailers usually don't tell the whole story, but they're generally a good indication. It's your standard "lower class boy loves upper class girl but she doesn't even know he exists until one day they get thrown into an unlikely situation together and he gets a chance to show her what he's really like" story.
With a lot of butt and pee jokes.
For another example of that same premise done right, watch Balto, which also features wolves and is animated. Mostly I'm just annoyed that they're not bothering to even try to make a good movie, they're just pandering to the lowest common denominator. And that only annoys me because I really want to see a good animated movie featuring wolves.
It's interesting they're promoting the fact that this producer directed The Fox and the Hound, because that was one of the classic old Disney movies that didn't pull any punches with your emotions. This is more like The Fox and the Hound 2, which was basically an insult to the first one.
Argh. I hate this because it looks so bad but I still want to see it. _________________ Changed my name to Kantaro. |

I can see the reviews giving it like 2 stars.
I had high hopes for this one, given that Bolt managed to surprise me with its simple but charming story. And it was Disney. _________________ Hey, Sony... IT'S PAYBACK TIME!

It's odd, because Bolt was a fantastic movie, simply because the plot and characters could be compared to other movies of a similar calibre. When I look at Bolt, I see a story that's The Truman Show meets Homeward Bound : The Incredible Journey, both of which are must-have movies. Truman Show is one of my top 10, infact. If you haven't seen that, go watch it now.
But Alpha and Omega ... all that springs to mind is Balto, which Xactly has mentioned already and Bug's Life, Antz, Bee movie and a bunch of other 'cinema fodder'. It comes out on DVD a month later and makes an insultingly cheap birthday present.
But by the looks of things, there's nothing in Alpha & Omega that hasn't been done before ... better ... with more dedication to the characters. It has potential, but nothing worth holding your breath for. Sorry furries.

I really donīt know what to think of this movie.
For me it looks like a mix of Balto 2, Ice age, and Open Season with a little bit of under the line humor.
Maybe I watch it on DVD but not in the cinema _________________ Whether a black cat brings misfortune or not, depends on whether one is a fur or a mouse.
