Friends and fellow furs,
As many of you no doubt know, I am an active service member. I currently serve in the Navy and have been doing so for going on a decade and a half. I've made several cruises and each deployment has taken me halfway around the world and into many foriegn countries, some of which where not all that friendly.

As of yesterday however, it has become a little more hazerdous.

I have been told that I am up for a an I.A tour. In a nut shell it means that I am going to go spend an as yet undetermined, but lengthy stay in Afghanistan. That's about all I can say but it's enough for you all to understand the basic situation that I am in.

My wife and I have discussed things and I am going to try and aquire a router card from one of the phone companies so I will have access to the boards and my civilian e-mail when the oprotunity presents itself. I just need to see whgo has the best service and a decent price. So far Verison is out of the running. ther card is top notch but the download caps and the service plan are absolute dirt.

Anyway., I just wanted to let you guys know this. That way if you all of a sudden can't get me after May, you'll know why.

Alexi.

I only have one thing to say to you then which I say to every person I know is on hazardous duty. Keep your head down and your butt intact.

We'll miss you if you can't get on once and in a while.

Alexi, let me join the others here in expressing our gratitude and honor for what you do to keep our country and our people safe. And I completely agree with Sigurd here: keep your head down and be safe.

Hope to keep seeing you on the boards.

Thank you guys. It's nice to know when you are appreciated. Especially with my very thankless job in the service. I have spoken with a couple of shipmates and a "Jarhead" already over and the location does have a small rec area. The service is not all that great and is heavily monitored but I should be able to get on when the opportunity arises. With my job though, I can't make any promises as to my regularity.

Thanks guys.

My target ship date is in late June.

Just know that you will return safely. Don't think about otherwise.
Keep yourself safe, and God be with you.

Being in the Navy, I doubt you will be ashore, so you should be relatively safe. Then again, I have no idea what your MOS would be, so maybe I'm wrong.

Be safe, keep your head and tail low, and come back to us.

I must also agree with Rabbit, thank you for your service. Applause

That's kinda what I thought. But then I realized they have "ships of the desert" over there. Shocked

I'm on a base somewhere in country, that's all I know. They want me because of my ability to teach ceartain systems. (yay) Having talked to a few there, I'm feeling a little more confident.

Thank you all for your support.
