Nice chapter...we finally learn who Mori is, somehow I think we all knew he was Arden.

Now the question is what price is he paying and to who to remove the spell on our favourite vixen? Where will there adventure take them next? Will the ferry ever get there? Did they remember there fare? Will shelia.......

*removes himself from his keyboard to cease the inane questioning*

*Crawls back*

Well overall a great chapter, can't wait for the next, but have to Wink

Sorry for the month between chapters. One of the probelms with depression is that you have no energy or enthusiasm to accomplish anything and right now with the hollidays, things are especially bad for me.

Cheers

Nice to know I was right... Laughing

Interesting chapter.

So Arden basically died and was resurected (or would have died) and now owes somebody a favour. And it must be somebody pretty powerful.

Yep. I was going to try and keep it up in the air for another couple of chapters, but then realized that I needed to keep Rathsmon with the group. Only way that would happen is if he were on the buggy and the only way THAT could happen..... yada yada yada...

As it is, Sheila will still have remain clueless for now. It's not time for her to realize the truth.

He didn't die. He cheated death. As for the price, that will have to be seen. Twisted Evil

She'd have to be pretty dense then. Confused
He's given her enough hints, most of what made up my mind that Mori is Arden came from the things he told her in the previous chapter.
And his interest in her and the stuff about the quest and cheating death is another pretty strong clue.
Unless she "Does not see the wood because of all the trees.", she should figure it out soon. Twisted Evil

His name is another clue, but one that she might not notice.

There's a very sexist remark I could make, but wont. Twisted Evil

Agreed, however he has always framed the statements as if from a third person observing. Remember, Sheila's ignorant about magic and how it works. She has no clue if someone else could figure out how to use the toys by just looking at them.

I don't know. If you were stuck with someone and had nothing to do other than watch the grass grow, wouldn't you strike up a conversation? As for the "rules", everyone has been quoting rules to her, so for all she knows he's just giving her a little hope... (even if it IS just to SHUT HER UP!) Laughing

People often don't see the forest for the trees. I can't tell you how many times it's happened to me. As for his name.... what about his name? Cool

There are plenty of clues for her, many of them are what he talked with her in Ch 24. He always gave answers that Arden could have given to her without lying.

He looked familiar to her, the question here is does he look like Arden or does he remind her of somebody else. Then that could throw her off track. She was pretty sure that they knew each other before.

And him showing up shortly after Arden supposedly died and told her about the quest rules are two pretty big dots for her to connect. The quest rules should get her thinking that Arden might not be dead, then the next question would be where is he.
And Arden (as Mori) behave pretty much like he did before, that should also give her a clue.

For me it would be the classic "Wake up in the middle of the night and realize..."

Of course if the story requires her not to recognize him, then I guess she'll continue having a blind spot... Wink

His name?
"Morituri te salutant" comes to mind...

Agreed. Right now I'm keeping her intentionally dense.

The answer to that will still be a few chapters away.

Actually, Mori's being a little more tollerant of her than Arden would have. If you remember, Arden had shown consiterable hostility back on occasion. Mori has only shown frustration and compassion (so far).

Yah, it'll be something like that. You'll have to imagine what the aftermath will be like for a while longer. Twisted Evil

*nods* He has to do a few things as Mori that are going to shake up her perception of him before the realization comes.

Hmmm... Nope. Remember, I'm in to the Japanese culture, not the French. Get someone to tell you what Mori means in Japanese. Cool

In an online dictionary I found "Nurse, babysitter". That would fit. Laughing

Mine was not french but Latin.
This is what the gladiators said to cesar before they started fighting.
Mors (I think that is the root word) means Death.

*nods* Lattin isn't a language I studdied.

Mori in Japanese is the word for Forest. Arden is the name of a forest in Germany.

Your deffinition works too. Laughing

Hikaru: I really enjoyed this chapter, and the rest of book 3 as well.

As usual, everything has already been said, so DITO!

Thanks.

With Act III, I've tried to put more effort into writing the setting of the story as well as the actions of the characters than just what's going on. I think little things like mentioning how they are chewing on the grass and such add more depth to the over all story.

On one hand, it makes for a MUCH richer story. On the other hand, a scene that would have normally taken two pages, wound up taking 4. Of course, since I'm taking an entire bloody month betwen chapters of late, I suppose putting the extra pages & effort into it is only fair.
