We have quite a few garage bands over here, one being the band I'm in, Perfect Fifth.

*shameless self promotion*

I can only think of The Cat Empire right now.
They're a pretty life-loving band, check out their song Hello.

I know the drummer Mark in this band. At least a bit. I worked with him for a few weeks. His drumming is very energetic and his vocalist's voice is... unique to say the least, but it is an incredible voice.
Oh, and I thought I'd just mention that the band member I know (Mark) is on the far left of the photo.

I will always back my boys in the Nashville based band "ZMR". (hey you help feed a couple struggling band members and one of their roadies and not back them even after they got bigger gigs) They dont really have a good website with anything on it, I only could find a website with mentioning of them and a picture of them. http://newmusic.clearchannel.com/artist/zmr
I know the guy on the far right side and the guy on the far left side, they're brothers, left is Josh right is Jason. They are a rock group, very good. Last time I really saw them though was just before they were headed off to Hollywood for a major gig, a while back. I kept Jason, Josh and their roady Matt fed in their days just before making it big! Smile

Cool. I like *not-very-much-heard-of-bands.* They're often just as good as or better than the ones that get shoved down our throats.

There was a charity concert near where I lived a few years ago that one of the bands playing was ZMR so I promised them I'd show up. And I was watching all the "unknown" bands and there was one that was set up just like "No Doubt" and they performed No Doubt songs and they did it soooo perfectly I was amazed. And the girl singer really got into it making it almost more entertaining than the real No Doubt group! Smile

Wow, that's hard to do. WIth the live 8 concerts, when they were airing them live, I watched all the evening and night sets right up until it finished at midnight. Unfortunately, I didn't watch it in the early afternoon, so I missed the U2 set, but when Pink Floyd came on, someone I knew said at first "Who the hell are Pink Floyd???" because if you're not someone who listens to much rock music, you might not have heard of them because they are a last generation band. But when they started playing, his thoughts that they were'nt going to be very good were wiped away. The live 8 concert was amazing.
Hey, just wondering here, what does ZMR stand for?

ZMR's original band name was Zamar, they told me it was a type of war gun, but they found that there was another group with that name and to keep from copywrite issues they shortened it to ZMR.

Which speaking of having to change their name it reminds me of a gospel music group from my home church. Their name was originally "Eastern Sky" but they found there was 2 or 3 other groups with that name so they changed it to the "Kenny and Donna Morss gospel group" then as the younger two went off to college the group began to dispers and its now just Kenny and Donna Morss. I know the entire group and can sing most of their songs right along with them I know their music so well. The original group was made up of Kenny and Donna Morss and their son Micheal, James and Pansy Post and their son Marcus, and Norman Draper. The Post family has been friends with my family since James was in grade school back in the 70's or so. I unfortunatly only own their first cd as "Eastern Sky" I don't own the other two as "Kenny and Donna Morss Gospel Group" or as "Kenny and Donna Morss"

Copyright issues can be a pain in the ass. But, they are there for a reason. Anyway, nice to see you're surrounded by music on all sides Very Happy .
