Damn, Fish - what puddle beyond the shallow end of the gene pool did they get him from? Can they return him and get their money back?

Was infected by a FREAKING MORON at work. The entire Email system is fragged. He kept clicking on it and clicking on it...

Sigh

Reminds me of someone at my office who thought his laptop was running too slow with McAfee running... so what does he do? He turns it off. Since it's a laptop, he brings it home, plugs it into his cable modem (directly, no router or firewall), gets infected with MSBlast, eventually brings it back to the office, and starts infecting machines. And since most of the users on the network don't bother keeping their machines up to date, it gets really nasty in a short period of time.

Microsoft products and idiots... what a wonderful combination. Mad

Your anti-virus program seems to be doing its job there Whip.

It's caught one almost everyday in my mail and some times more that one for the last two weeks. Today has been the first that claimed to come from a fellow PF member though. It contained the "your archive.pif" attachment.

It's good to see it's working better now. I have added a few more rules on the mail server to help bring down the number of viruses (specifically Netsky.D).

I'm at work at the moment, but I'll be putting up a page for those who get emails returned saying they have been blacklisted because of high virus transmissions. For example, 63.170.10.111 has sent 46 out of the 151 infected emails caught just within the past week. Senderbase has noted a 707% jump in the amount of messages sent by this address.

Seriously people... Go get a virus scanner!! McAfee has a free online-based virus scanner, not to mention several others. Comcast has the right idea, but people need to be at least somewhat responsible for their own systems.

Holy crap.

Somebody seriously needs to get a virus scanner. 27 out of 42 infected emails received today containing W32/Netsky.p@MM came from this IP.

This is a known virus spreading technique. It sends E-mails to a name at an ISP from someone's address book, pretending to be the administrator of that ISP with the attachment.

It's a social engineering virus.

By default, never open ANY attachment you weren't expecting. PERRIOD.

Cheers

Whip posting that here's not gonna do anyone any good, hardly anyone comes into this topic at all. Try posting this in Blither Blather were everyone can see it. That way the one with this ip addy can see it and perhaps do something about it.

Whoever has that IP hasn't hit the web server... at least not in the past several weeks. o.O

Beh, just venting anyways. Gotta mess with this stuff at work only to have it greet me at home. Wink
