I gotta say, I love these psuedo-flashback/retelling chapters. They sort of remind me of everything that's happened so far which is useful because it's a long story, and well, my brain is like a sieve. I really liked the concept of the armor holding off the native spells, that was inventive. And now everybody's finally in once place - methinks the fireworks will be starting shortly, so I'm going to get a nice comfy couch ready. _________________ Changed my name to Kantaro. |

Great chapter Bear, but I can't help but wonder did Arden when looking into the Eye view all possibilities of completing the quest, or did he only look at the different possibilities of himself making the wish to renew Nanuk and not some one else? _________________ "Political Correctness is tyranny with manners." Good question, though I think the proper counter question would be: Could his honor let someone else make the sacrifice? He was chosen from birth for this to happen (or so he's been told). In his mind, it's what he's destined for. As to exactly how it will all end up is still a bit in the air, but right now, he's not holding his breath at walking away from the event after everything's said and done.

Well what I was getting at was maybe no one would have to die if some one else might be in a better position to grab the prize as it were and make the wish safely. *Shrugs* Just wild speculation on my part, I'm sure that what ever you come up with will be very exciting, very enjoyable to read (as always), and very unexpected. _________________ "Political Correctness is tyranny with manners." Does it have to be Arden who gets the Lamp of Lakash and makes the wish to renew Nanuk or can it be done by anyone in his party? Maybe if Hecaet (sp?) or the necromancer since they know of the sacrifice Arden believes he has to make, takes the lamp and makes the wish for him thus sparing him from having to do it himself and possibly doing so without having to die in the process. Unless I missed it I don't think anything was mentioned about making the wish being fatal or even dangerous it's only getting the to the lamp that's tricky right? _________________ "Political Correctness is tyranny with manners." Correct for the most part. Arden's said in the past that getting the lamp was going to be the hard part. Now that he's actually seen what will happen when the wish is made, he's realized that everything isn't what it was first represented to be.
As for someone else being able to make the wish, here's a quote from Chapter 41.
Quote: | He looked at the woman, a frown on his face. "In order to renew Nanuk, I have to give up who and what I am, and take on the roll of Nanuk. That's the only way." |
Since whoever makes the wish will become Nanuk, I don't think that either Hecate or Rathsmon would be willing to give up who and what they are, much less their lives in the "real" world. _________________ Read my comic: http://www.ImperialGelf.com

I don't know, seems to me that both of them pretty much hate their current existence. But of course as I said, it's your story and characters and I'm sure you'll come up with something great sure will be a shame though if Arden can't return with Sheila. _________________ "Political Correctness is tyranny with manners." According to Act one Chapter one it isn't permanent. _________________ Text is void if truth is not written, text above this note is void. |

OOOoooooohhhh! Someone paid attention in Act I.
Actually, when I started Act 1, I had a completely different ending based on where the story was going. However, I will be doing my best to insure that all strings are appropriately tied up.
