Gotta 'love' Lakash. Prime @sshole material. I hope the necromancer isn't dumb enough to buy his deal. Almost the last words out of Lakash's little rat mouth were "That deal doesn't matter anymore." Some deal maker he is. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could kick him, but... he does have a way of picking the thing one desires most and twisting it to do his bidding.

But what's so important that he now wants Arden dead? Has Our protagonist gotten too big for Lakash's britches?

And what did Times Eye show Arden? He's supposed to sacrifice himself?

If so... which one?

Yeah, I'd say Arden became considerably bigger than Lakash's britches, heh. Sounds like Lakash is scared to me, scared of losing his shot at grabbing Nanuk's power for himself. As far as Arden and Time's Eye, it sounds to me like he has to sacrifice his mortal form. He has to take Nanuk's place and he can't do that if he's still alive, no matter which body he's in. But I guess we'll find out soon enough Smile

I have to say there are more curve balls thrown in this story then a pitching exposition. Something bothers me if Lakash wanted Arden dead could he not have just severed the link between him and Arden in the middle of a fight? And given what Arden said it doesn't make since that Lakash would want him dead since if he doesn't succeed in his mission then it will trigger Armageddon which is something Lakash dose not want or maybe Arden has miss interpreted the whole thing. Great read Hikaru as always can't wait for the next chapter.

I'm sure the fact that Arden completely obliterated whatever "block" Lakash put on his power scares Lakash silly. The student has become more powerful than the master, and even more unpredicable. Lakash has absolutely no idea what Arden will do at this point, which has to be a very unsafe feeling for a demon whose job is creating chaos and unpredictability.

Also interesting is the fact that Arden looked into Time's Eye and didn't die or go stark raving mad. It makes me think that Arden possibly didn't see all that he could have seen, which means he could still possibly come out of this deal alive.

If Lakash has completely absorbed Nanuk's power, and Arden has now busted through every obstacle that was placed on his access to the dragon's power, it may be possible for Arden to find and separate Nanuk's power from that of Lakash. If Arden were to absorb that power into himself, then somehow cut off his link to the dragon's power, Arden would essentially steal it back, and not even have to worry about the quest. He could just give the power back to Nanuk. It would really piss off Lakash, and he would probably retaliate, but it's a possibility that I don't think Arden has recognized yet.

Sorry for the long, rambling post. It's been a while since I last posted.

Nanuk's still around. She hasn't kicked the bucket yet. If she had, his quest would be moot. He's got to do this before her time runs out.

Cheers

I know, that was my point. Arden could steal back the power Lakash stole, and then give it back to her.

I was always under the impression that Lakash stole almost all of her power, only leaving her enough to keep her alive.

No. If Arden fails in his quest, THEN Lakash gets Nanuk's powers. As it stands now, he's just betting on winning out.
